We are discussing media bias here.The original post was about the contrast in the reporting of the two very similar images.
The black guy was sensible enough to put his life-preserving provisions in a waterproof bag.He had also left money for the goods in the shop he took them from.

There was a time when we debated whether or not to permit the discussion of any and all non-music-related topics here. At the time, I advocated limiting things to music, but "freedom of speech" carried the day, and I understood the principle behind that line of thinking, and came to accept it.

Now, I'm not so sure my stance wasn't right in the first place -- these kinds of controversial topics (and there have been many such, lately), on an internet that grants anonymity and unaccountability, provide the perfect platform for the hateful and moronic to spew their poison.

I know, Tony R, that you (and others) passionately defend the right to discuss (almost) anything here, and I do understand why, but an increasing number of the youngsters (either in age, or intellect/wisdom) flocking to this site lack the brains and humanity to discuss such matters in any meaningful, constructive way.

Between the racism displayed here, and the misogynism to be found on the last few pages of the Mariah thread ("The Doctor" is a notable offender), this place just seems to get worse and worse.

I don't know if I should blame  "progmetal" for this trend, or if ever-increasing numbers of western youth lack all sense, reason and fellow-feeling, but this forum is truly starting to sicken me.

Do we have any hope of attracting (and retaining) people of colour, sensitivity, wisdom, or the opposite sex here?

Hmmm,yet another day when racism reared its ugly head on the forum.

This is a perfect example of media racism and the kind of thing that is all to prevelant in th UK in daily newspapers like The Express,Mail and Star.

This humble commentator believes both these forum members should pause before posting their opinions.A pause of about 25 years would probably suffice...

One more post on this subject would qualify them for a "too much posting" award!!!

That's exactly what I think.  How can we judge these two articles when they are written by completely diferent people (I assume) .  It's not like the one reporter saw the other article and thought "I'll use the word 'find' instead of 'loot' because the people in my article are white."  It's complete nonsense.
