To the Highest Bidder.

When he rides, my fears subside.
For darkness turns once more to light.
Through the skies, his white horse flies.
To find a land beyond the night.

For the completist, this one is very interesting, mix of live and unreleased tracks. You won't be disappointed. As always, with Supersister, the music smiles.

Wow, only thought they did the first 2. I'll have to check out the others some time.

^ Cool, thanks Sagi. There's also a band with Stips (and members from Golden Earring) called 'Stars And Stips', they have 1 album released in '74 which doesn't sound anything like SUPERSISTER, and Stips just uses piano and an ARP synth. I should do a review of it.......

^ That's right Tom, it is a good album.

And btw this would be a good place to mention that R.J Stips continued with a different band name called Transister and recorded only one album in 79' called Zig Zag. It doesn't really sound like Supersister but still there's a connection.
The production is much brighter and slick but the playing is phenomenal and complex, the album is very very Zappa inspired and it is really clever, very much recommended to Zappa fans.

Check it out...

Love their humour as well. Might have to give Iskander a spin - a bit of a departure from Canter-buggers, but still very classy. Also, the album Superstarshine Vol 3 has some essential tracks, like the eccentric 'Wow!' epic.

I was going to mention my surprise at how close all these albums are, I really am surprised. Iksander was my choice by the way.

I couldn't agree more Tom, I love not only fuzzed out keys but bass too as i'm sure you do.

It's between 'Present for Nancy' and 'Spiral Staircase' for me (the 2 i've heard) and can't say I prefer one over the other but yes, yes, yes, I love Supersister!

Their sound is amazing, so modern as could  be the sound of Stevie Wonder for soul music.

Their wonderful debut Present for Nancy just ahead of follow-upTo the Highest Bidder. Acually if I made a top five list would be in the exact same order as the poll.

Wow great to see all releases getting votes! Love this band, both in it's early incantation as well as in it's latter more experimental stage.
A couple of years back, I would've voted for either Pudding or Highest Bidder, but nowadays it's got to be Iskander. Some say it's too pompous and silly, but then again Iskander was an album made to reflect the trials and tribulations of Alexander the Great. If anything such an endeavour requires great amounts of pompousness and silliness.
What else? Oh yes, I adore the wind instruments of this album.

The latter is different from the rest as it has more of a Soft Machine flavour with Charlie Mariano on sax sounding like Elton Dean at times. After Iskander failed to do well Charlie went to Germany to play with Eberhard Weber, meanwhile the band asked Elton Dean to join them and he accepted, sadly the band broke up before they could record an album with him. You'll see Elton Dean listed as a former member anyway on their web-site.
I'm having the same indecision John, it's between  To The Highest Bidder and Iskander for me too, I'll listen to them today.

I just love the first three records, hard to vote. Chose for Pudding, because it can easily be misunderstood.
