Oh, this one is easy. Purple's debut has glimpses of potential, I love Mandrake Root. But album as a whole is inconsistent. Heep's first effort was more solid and entertaining. Give me Very 'eavy.

Even though early Deep Purple is all I cared for I still had to vote Uriah Heep.
I was at a very disappointing DP concert in the seventies (yes, the Smoke On The Water tour) but it didn't matter because I had already moved on from the band.
I do recall the album with Tommy Bolin being pretty good.

Oh No!!!! My two favorite heavy rock bands. I know it's about the albums, not the bands, but this is a choice l haven't been able to make for the last 40 years.
