For me, Bowie and Mick Ronson are inextricably linked. Mick was sharp as a razor on the albums he recorded with Bowie.

Do you think David Bowie regretted when Stevie Ray Vaughn would not agree to Mr. Bowles terms after Let,s Dance was released , then would not go on tour? Unfortunately we will never know! It,s only rock and roll , but I like it!

I saw the '78 tour in Oakland.  Honestly, I only bought a ticket because I thought Fripp might guest on the Heroes tour just like he did with Gabriel in '77...oh well...I did get to see Belew and Roger Powell on kybds though so it was still a great night Wink

I saw a documentary yesterday night. Rick Wakeman at his piano spoke of his fascination for Life On Mars. 40 years later, he had forgotten some parts and exclaimed : "Gosh, what an extraordinary piece of piano ! I have to learn all this by heart !"

On that list of Bowie's most memoral collaborations, I believe Rick Wakeman is missing big time. I understand Space Oddity and Life on Mars are some very important pieces for his career. And perhaps not so important, but also notable, is his appearance with David Gilmour on the Remember that Night show... I think I remember something about Bowie having been sort of out of the musical scene for a little while when Gilmour brought him back...

Sorry, SRV was listed in the article.  Some have pointed out that other collaborators such as David Torn were not mentioned.

Bowie caught Stevie Ray Vaughan's performance at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1982 and was so taken with his playing that he invited the guitarist to join him in the studio. "He completely floored me," Bowie once told Guitar World. "I probably hadn't been so gung-ho about a guitar player since seeing Jeff Beck with his band the Tridents." Stevie Ray played a key role on 1983's massively successful Let's Dance.

Slick and Alomar on the 1983 tour were great.....tight band with Ansley Dunbar on drums.  Great band, great show.

I found this online, it discusses many of his key collaborations including Fripp, Belew etc.

Well, he was part of the GlassSpiders tour, saw him at the infernal Olympic Stadium in Montreal (affectionnally known as the toilet bowl) . Don't think Frampton played on studio albums but I will check that out.
