I picked up "The Crux of the Biscuit" over the weekend and have given it a few listens.

All-in-all quite good - I would recommend. Album starts out strong with excellent versions of Cosmic Debris, Uncle Remus, Down in the De Dew and Apostrophe. I particularly like the versions of Uncle Remus and Apostrophe included here. The live version of Yellow Snow/St. Alphonzo is also strong - and in a lot of ways I like it better than the studio version - I think the strong musicianship stands out better in this version...
He neither drank, smoked, nor rode a bicycle. Living frugally, saving his money, he died early, surrounded by greedy relatives. It was a great lesson to me -- John Barrymore

It is the original Lumpy Money.

Road Tapes - Venue 3 is an early performance with the Flo & Eddie line up, two shows from one night.  Interesting, but not terrible essential.

Frank Zappa For president is a collection of Synclavier pieces, remixes & live tracks.

The Crux Of The Biscuit is an "audio documentary" of Apostrophe.  It promises to be the most interesting of the lot.  It has alternate versions, remixes, and an approximation of FZ's original version of side 1 of the album.  I've read the liner notes, and the offer lots of insight into the album, some I knew, some I didn't.
Trust me. I know what I'm doing.

I bought this years ago (it was cheap then) and was very excited to listen the Lumpy Gravy suite without the spoken interludes. Believe me or not, It doesn't work as well as the original. I was very disappointed. Same for the Money outtakes. Not the gems that I expected. And I love the guy more than I can say.
Just my opinion.

I'm pretty sure it is.

It appears the ZFT is in need of money.

There are 3 new albums coming out in a very short time span, as well as the Universal distribution of Lumpy Money.

In the past, the releases were only 1 or 2 a year.

Not that I'm complaining, I've ordered them all.
Trust me. I know what I'm doing.

^ Yes.....that's weird......he's promoting Zappa's music yet they are trying to screw him.
Go figure...? These people must be real idiots or just very greedy.

^Yes, I read that article when I was visiting California a few weeks ago. It's also pretty weird how Moon and Dweezil are getting less even though they have had more publicity-Dweezil has his tour and Moon speaks on Valley Girl

Big article in the L.A. Times "Calendar" section the other Sunday about the debacle. Pretty ugly with family members being pitted squarely against one another by Frank's widow's will. I would think Frank is turning in his grave (how cliche but appropriate).

So FZ released all those albums just to avoid his wife.

Kind of surprised he did not set this up as an independent trust rather than a family one. Not that I know any thing /bout that.

I think Dweezil could write his own Wall. There's one hell of a cast of characters here.

The thing that I would query is the merchandise sales returns. It is possible that GZ, upon receipt of a cheque may have thought that what was paid actually was hers /  ZFT's after DZ made the appropriate deduction. That's how that sort of transaction is made. Paying money to someone expecting it to flow back in part is unrealistic.

Next step is fraud charges. This looks like it's going to get much worse.

Update...looks like Dweezil just received a new cease & desist order from the trust yesterday so has changed his bands name from "Dweezil Zappa Plays Frank Zappa" to just "Dweezil Zappa."  Though he did get a shot in at this idiotic trust by calling this tour, "50 Years of Frank.  Dweezil Zappa Plays Whatever the $#%@ He Wants - The Cease and Desist Tour" Wink

Via Zammata is an excellent album, for those who haven't heard it. It has the only song he wrote with Frank, a parody of heavy metal.

From what I gather, Dweezil isn't embezzling funds from the trust or misusing Frank's work to make a quick buck, so I don't see what the complaint is about - well other than the usual bickering over money.

Sad that Frank's estate is falling into the same feuding that also affected the estates of Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain and, if worse comes to worse, Prince.

Hi,

What else is knew ... the actual musician is the one that gets screwed.

The music business ... will it ever change?

Confused

I don't think that Dweezil deserves this kind of bs ...
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!
