Topic: Did "Lulu" by Lou Reed & Metallica Work For You? Posted: July 25 2017 at 04:40 |
I thinn I've heard it once. Didn't leave a good impression at all. Maybe that's because I am a Lou Reed fan as well as a former Metallica one. Both artists though stopped being interesting over 20 years ago - at least for my tastes. Lou and James used to be wonderful...erm...I dare not call them singers but great vocalists....and then one of them received vocal training after a consultation with Bob Rock and pretty much lost all fire and brimstone to his voice whilst the other simply forgot how to sng his own songs - kinda like the unrocking version of Rain Man. Put all of this fail into a recording studio and see what happens; yeah some deranged part of me is actually pretty excited by now. Have I actually managed to talk myself into yet another spin of what I remember to be utter pap? Maybe

A well considered 2 CD compilation from either would suffice.
From what I've read about Lulu I doubt I'd consider it time well invested.

I never understood the adulation for Lou Reed. He should've been banned from singing in his own shower. As for Metallica...meh. Put together, double meh.

OP asked for our opinions...so here I go. Lulu is, IMO, one of the worst things that happened in human history. Grab the opening riff of a song, repeat it for eleven minutes, and have an old man spew nonsense with a monotone voice. It's the most basic form of "music" I have the misfortune of listening. A piece of trash like Rebecca Black's Friday sounds like Tales from Topographic Oceans in comparison.

Two random guys agreed to shake hands. Just Because. They felt like it, you know. It was an agreement of sorts...a random agreement.

Does a collaboration between two artists who are perfectly acceptable in their own right but have no place whatsoever on a Prog Rock website make an album that the members of PA like? Are there Larry Grayson and Julian Clary threads on any rugby league websites?

31st of October Lou Reed and Metallica released the one off album "Lulu". I love both the sound, the musicianship and the performance poetry of Lou Reed over it. I didn't realise it was two plays, but finally explains the two discs. I love "Dragon" and the second disc more. Although "Iced Honey" is the finest Guitar-Pop song going. It should have been the "Another Brick In The Wall Pt.2" from the album. But that went to "The View" which is the worst introduction to the album you can get as it loses it's strength isolated from an album. I love the album and it improves on listening over and over. I think I've got the options about the album down. What say you?
