^ China Crisis had a knack for writing catchy tunes, even if some of their lyrics were like a riddle wrapped inside an enigma. I still have no idea what Black Man Ray is all about, but it's a great song.

I have always liked China Crisis for the way their music sounds, however I find them lyrically a bit soft, if not downright baffling at times.
It's not that I dislike baffling lyrics as such (Jon Andersons lyrics for one example) it's just that China Crisis seem to have a "that'll do" attitude to their lyrics. I had every confidence that those midperiod albums from "The Crackdown" to "Groovy, Laidback and Nasty" would garner the most favour with you considering they are the most accessible albums CV released (particularly "Groovy, Laidback and Nasty"). As a fan from virtually the beginning I rate "The Crackdown" and "Micro-Phonies" as five star albums, well worth a listen by any Industrial/ House music fans. |

Art of Noise - Before You Tube, there was The Tube, a trendy teatime pop show hosted by Jools Holland (keyboard player with Squeeze) and Paula Yates (ex-wife of Bob Geldof).
