For mister prog corner: the first time I have listen to The Chronicles Of Father Robin, i did not like it probably because of those modern rock sounding power chords, but know I like it.

so i reset my list: 

So i reset my list and I have discover some new vintage prog.

-L'éclair (not include in the database but highly recommended)

But for me in music objectivity is more important than subjectivity as Bach and Beethoven are not independant from the technology they use. I know that the 80s and the 90s think the inverse of my statement because they have made singer-oriented music and after music have end with rapper-oriented post-music (cult of personnality is for the crowd)

Kick the Cat is very plesant to watch! I hear there sometime keyboard sound that are like Man from Utopia of Zappa. 

As a fan of vintage keys I have done in 2017 a small project of progressive electronic call 1-800 plainte. There is some Tangerine Dream and Kraftwerkian vibe, but i do also some Tony Banks-like chords progression and lot of improvise solo. I use Korg Monopoly, Moog sub-37 and You could take a look here: 


Hi Moshkito me too Agusa and Arabs in Aspic are not my favorite on the list or the more New vintage prog feel.

Great topic!  I'm also a vintage 70s keyboard freak (LOVE the Fender Rhodes tine-based sound!), and the fusion setting for it!  Chick Corea was a true master of that instrument! 

I agree with others about Night Watch!  Fantastic band! 

As a friend of several fusion bands out of Chicago, I believe that many have evolved beyond analog instruments due to weight, maintenance requirements etc.  The amazing Chicago band "Kick the Cat" keyboard player uses Nord synth, which has an amazing Fender sample.

I was playing their first one last night and I have to agree. Their sound is kind of hard to pin down but I definitely hear some psych, old fusion and some old jam band stuff like Allman Brothers in there.

Hi,

Nice list ... but really ... I don't listen to Agusa or Arabic in Aspic because I want a flash back into the past ... the past is long gone and it is water under the bridge, and not a frozen memory for so many of us old foggies and youngsters.

The weirdest thing ... we don't listen to Beethoven because he is "Romantic" and we don't listen to Bach because he is "Baroque", and we don't listen to Stravinsky because he is ... "Psychedelic" ... we listen to it because it's magnificent music that has been remembered by time, and appreciated by many folks over the so many years in between ... 

WHY CAN'T ROCK MUSIC be like that? And instead we have to look for high school/college/university versions of what was done many years ago? Is that all there is to learn about "art" and in this case "music"?

Do not limit your experience ... enjoy all the work, but not because it is like something else or not ... were I a musician in any of those bands I would be very SAD ... because you lessened my ability to that of ... just a member of the orchestra" doing just the same riffs that have been done for many years ... rinse and repeat, you could say about these orchestras that have as much talent as a child that doesn't know music, or care. Heck, go listen to PDQ Bach, and realize that it is ALL done by local musicians, for the first time, and they do not miss the cues, or the music ... now, c'mon ... that is talent! A copy is not "talent", unless you can do better than the original, which can't be done since you are not looking for an original ... you are looking for a copy!
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

Ring van Möbius seriously nails the 70s vibe and sound. And I've been in their studio, it's all vintage gear, including the recording equipment, which is an old 16-track Tape Recording machine. Extremely dedicated guys. Amazing.
