Sorry to say that Carmen is a very overrated band. They tried to mix flamenco with rock but obviously they lacked of the neccesary spanish touch and feeling to do so. If you are interested on flamenco rock, just check spanish progressive rock bands such as Triana, Cai, Alameda or Imán.

John Glacock joined Jethro Tull in late 1975 and is the bass player (and backing vocalist) on "Too Old to Rock'n'Roll, Too Young to Die!" (1976), "Songs From the Wood" (1977), "Heavy Horses" (1978) and the live "Bursting Out" (1978). He had to stop with the recording sessions of "Stormwatch" (1979) for his illness. He only played on tracks as Orion, Flying Dutchman and Elegy. Later, during the Stormwatch, while the remaining line-up were on stage, arrived the sad new of his death after heart surgery. He was a great bass player. My JT's favourite one!

JohnGlascock was a much underrated bass player IMO.His work on Carmens 'The Gypsies' was first class . This is also an excellent album IMO.I understand they supported Tull on some tours and IA effectively headhunted JG. Needless to say,IA must have thought something of him.

Carmen's bass player, John Glascock, joined Tull later and then died at a rather early age of a heart attack or some similar medical condition. Line Records issued CD's of their 3 LP's, but they're all out of print now.

Is a great band with three albums, the best is the one you mentioned Fandangos In Space, Jethro Tull's members i don't think so, the guitar player is David Allen similar to Gong's Daevid Allen, but J-Tull no. Carmen (for me) is similar to some Santa Esmeralda ![]() |

Sub says all. I heard a bit of music awhile ago and really enjoyed it; unfortuately it was an old dubbed cassette tape. I believe one of the members of Jethro Tull was in Carmen. It seems to me they came out with an album called something like "Fandangos in Space"?? But I have a hard time locating albums from this band, even on Ebay. Am I nuts? Does anyone have any more information for me? |
