Not really a monumental track. Does it serve better as an intro or outro ?
More as a bookend in my view so no real distinction

Just so you know, it's not Gilmour in that solo. It's Snowy White.

Both are excellent, Part 1 is slightly better.

This is a tough one, but the darker overtone of 1 wins out over what could be called the happy ending of 2

The only difference is, two pieces are now one. Part one (identical to the album version) leads into a small guitar solo, thanks to Snowy White, and then changes back to Part Two (also identical). |

Question to those advocating the 'complete' version .... what do you think of Snowy White's guitar solo in the bridge? ..... for me, it seems aimless .... notes for the sake of notes ... I wonder what Gilmour would have made of it?
I think Snowy was trying to "do" a Gilmour. It never has really bothered me, I just enjoy the novelty of the continuation of the track.

Joolz, Believe me, I ignore a ton of the oddball threads on here. This one just seemed to go to the heighth of irrelevance. And the person who started it gave little idea as to why he liked one over the other. If there were some sort of deep meaning he was gleaning from one or the other that moved him to where he wanted input from others and how they perceived the two, I might understand. Instead, we get one line that he likes pt. 1 due some perceived darkness lurking about. If you are going to start a thread, have some conviction! Have something emotionally invested in the outcome of a poll. Too many people just start up threads with the first thing that comes to mind. But you are right, I should just ignore it. |

I prefer it is an outro rather than an intro, so Part 2 it is!

I always heard the second before I heard the first and I guess it just stuck with me. I'm a #2 fan.

I prefer part 2. It has better lyrics and is a perfect closing track

The two parts were joined together for release on the old 8-track cartridge system so that there was no break. The bridge joining the two parts together was played by Snowy. |

If you feel it is so bad, why not simply ignore it? Question to those advocating the 'complete' version .... what do you think of Snowy White's guitar solo in the bridge? ..... for me, it seems aimless .... notes for the sake of notes ... I wonder what Gilmour would have made of it? |
