But Lady Lake, it's more basic,,,, classic rock, and I like Toe-Nail maybe more because it is more heavy or something.. ( PS "I could never be a soldier" reminds me of Wishbone Ash - Warrior)

I bought both the first 2 albums at the same time on vinyl from a second hand shop back in the early seventies and still have them! Couldn`t get into them at first because I hated the album art on Lady Lake (  I still hate it! ). But after forcing myself to listen to In Spite of Harry`s Toenail I was totally freaked out. I don`t think the comparisons to VDGG, GG, JT and early KK are fair because these guys were  exploring and experimenting just like everybody else was  back then and as far as I can see have their own distinctive sound. It reminds me of the FRUPP/ Genesis comparisons I`ve heard over the years, the only thing they had in common was that one opened for the other at gigs in the early `70s.  None theless Grindrolog is definitely one of the most overlooked prog bands from the glory years of prog . Definitely go for it.

I've heard only "In Spite Of Harry's Toe-Nail", where "Long Live Man Dead Skull", "Snails" and "Time and Space" are veruy good songs.

Sounds little bit like.. Henry Cow with Slapp Happy as a male : )

Yes and VdGG, with those nice heavy melodies and riffs... and some flute and.. litlle bit Gong, maybe..

Reminding of avant-garde,, you know those occasionally heavy chamber avants..
(Like Guapo, Happy Family, Island, Le Silo, Miasma.., Nazca --- not chamber o's : ) though ) Well, not with chamber orchestra or with those zeuhlish or canterurysh jazz elements rolling,, or with avant-noise... But with those occasional explotions.

This is quite clear, but progressive. Psychedelic art rock.. Maybe a bit Jethro Tull, but maybe more Gryphon or Gentle Giant's vandergraafgeneratorish light-heavy psychosongs. Hmm.. krautrock in Time and Space ending..

Atmospheric, space.

Have to listen more.

Lady Lake is cool!  The first track, I Could Never Be A Soldier, is the best, awesome song...the rest is OK!

I got "Gnosis" in the mail today and have had the one listen. I quite enjoyed what I heard ...and a bit of an Aussie flavour with one instrumental track featuring that uniquely Australian instrument, the didgeridoo, a legacy of it being recorded in Cairns, Far North Queensland.

Great band! I have their two first albums, both are very fine works of 70's Prog Rock. If anyone has heard the reunion album, please tell me what it's like.

I am also at one spin of this album so far, and underwhelmed. But like with every prog record, I need to give it at least five spins to make up my mind.

I got to listen to Lady Lake & Gnosis. I think the classic is a great touch of music, while the feature of Gnosis extends to a good side of "reminescence time waste".

In all, I tried out Gnidrolog out of a wonderful prog classic recommendation it has, and I wasn't displeased.

Wait maybe I had my tracks wrong, Ship, Soldier and Social Embarrasement I liked, the other 3 were mediocre or commercial fillers.

I'd say definitely keep listening as Lady Lake is on of the simply best albums of all time. I don't know how you could tag Social Embarassment as a commercial song, it's noting of the sort. If one song can be said to be commercial it's Ships.
