Something is wrong with this thread... The poll has expired, I can't quote with the corresponding button, etc.

Anyway, I don't think that poll expiration saved you, shizoid_man, from the purchase. What have you bought?

VDGG - H to HE is prog - heaven filled with great atomspheres. This the one to start with. My problem w/ Gentle Giant is they are great musicians and singers but not very good song writers. Octopus IMO is highly overrated. Get FREE - HAND....

Very hard task!
From the ones on the list i would go for :

-Second Life Syndrome
-Night (although i agree with Rivertree, is dark but not like Tool, this is more melodic and melancholic)
-Vemod (or From Within if you don´t have any Anekdotens)
-IQ´s Dark Matter

Get Änglagård and Sleepy-Time Gorilla Museum, they'll change your life!

I too like the darkness and both Änglagård and SGM are so dark and amazing! You could never go wring with either of these bands' albums

Do it!!

I'm a ProgMetal fan and though I liked 'Second Life Syndrome' at first, the more I listened the less impressed I was. There's just not much there when compared to acts like Luke Jaeger's Sleep Terror, Counter-World Experience, Behold.. the Arctopus, etc.

Same here. Maybe because we grow more familiar with the album with every listen. I'm more inclined to the music of Sleep Terror and Behold... The Arctopus. Technical metal in hyperspeed.Big%20smile
Off that list, it's definitely Ayreon for prog metal, and Van Der Graf Generator's Pawn Hearts.

Vemod is one of the non-2000 albums you named, and it's already proven itself timeless and unique. Just buy it!

Van Der Graaf - If this is your first VdGG album, I'd go for Pawn Hearts or Godbluff before H to He Who Am The Only One

Other: Pain Of Salvation - Be

I'd go with Ayreon. You've got to have this one, it's a masterpiece.
