A suggestion:

there is a group on Facebook dedicated to PFM: is basically working as a funclub.
Is possible that only for Toronto, some promotions will be available for group members.
So, who is on facebook just go there and join the group: all updates and news are going there first.

Hi there,

is not confirmed yet but 99% PFM will play Stati di Immaginazione

november 19th Toronto
November 23 Quebec City

There is also a possibility for a gig in Niagara Falls with De Andre' concert.
It seems that Vancouver is not an option at this point.
When I'll have more info I'll post them!

This is a video that my (18 year old) daughter and I took during the last visit of PFM in Quebec City in 2005 (or was it 2006 ?).
The track is called Cyber Alpha and comes from the last album Stati di Immaginazione. At the time, Stati was not out yet, and this performance just blew the audience away, I mean, really blew us all away. I must admit the "real thing" was superior, as it's always better when you see the guys performing before your eyes, but the video isn't bad. They launched it after somebody asked for the inevitable Alta Loma 5 till 9, which surprisingly they didn't play.
Better listen loud if you really want to enjoy it !!!
(Sorry for the sound, but irt comes from a small pocket camera...)

PS But hey, the best guitar/group performance from PFM was Alta Loma on Cook/Live in the USA in 1974. Just out of this world.

Pretty sure it's because we're the best :D

Nah, we're just more open minded to music 'cause of all the different roots.
Remember - Genesis, Styx, Gentle Giant, and a number of other prog bands started to hit big here before much notice was given them in the U.S. .
Mind You, that might be due in part to the major radio stations in Toronto & Montreal being more open to the progressive spectrum in Rock. Particularly Montreal.

PFM will headline Nearfest next year so there will be at least one US date.  Umm I think Styx was pretty well known in Illinois before Canada.  Wink  I can't believe any band would travel from England to play Montreal and Tronto without playing the US as well. At least on a record companies dime.  The northeast of the US was and still is a strong supporter of prog bands.  There are other pockets as well too.

It's alright for those of you on that side of the 'pond'  What about us poor deprived UK bods?

I saw they were doing some gigs in Italy earlier this year.  Can't recall where I saw the info.  There was to be a gig in Palermo, Sciliy so I investigated flights, hotels, etc but the missus said no when I mentioned it would only be at 1200 quid.

OK, I'll have to wait a little while longer for them to return to the UK.  I have a lot of patience but a man can only wait so long.

Please visit the UK, PLEASE, pretty please.

They tour Italy regularly, as can be seen on PFM's website.
If I were you, I wouldn't wait too long to see them live, with Premoli gone (again), I don't think the band will last forever.
We have a saying in French  that would translate like : If the mountain doesn't come to you, come to the mountain.

I know they tour Italy frequently, there are Italian you know Wink

But I'm in good ol' Blighty Embarrassed

I did e-mail the band via their website a while ago and was advised that there were no planned tours but they may and I stress "may" visit the UK at some point.

Sadly, I can't really afford to go to the 'mountain'Unhappy

Saw them in 2005 at the Nearfest Preshow when Proto-Kaw opened for them.  Maybe the best prog show I have seen since the 70's. Hope you all enjoy them.

As Canada is concerned there are talks about dates in second half of november in Toronto, Quebec City and Vancouver.
After North America they are going to play in Central and South America starting from Mexico City on December 3rd.

This version, circa 1974, is closer to the original :

And what about this gem ?

That sounds great, but Toronto would probably be the best bet. The main temple of the Buddhist society I belong to is there, so I could combine the concert with a visit there.

It would be great if they included some U.S. dates as well, but Canada isn't that far for me. Especially if they play Windsor.

Franz only said the band would be in Canada during the fall of 2008. He didn't say the they wouldn't stop anywhere else. Who knows, they may be planning a N.A. tour, I don't know, and to pretend otherwise would be pure speculation.
