I like all the 1960s and 70s versions of Purple but have never really got into their stuff since the 80s reunion so:

Flight of the Rat
Highway Star (Made in Japan)
Blind
Burn
Sail Away
Smooth Dancer
High Ball Shooter
Hush
Hard Lovin Man
Lay Down Stay Down

Bubbling under:
Fools
Cry Free
April
Stormbringer

"And now...on the drums...Mick Underwooooooooood!!!"

"He's up the pub"

Well, OK, this is my definitive list of Purple's Top 10.

1. April
2. Anthem
3. Hallelujah
4. Mandrake Root
5. Fools
6. Child In Time
7. Livin' Wreck
8. Chasing Shadows
9. Cry Free
10. First Day Jam

N.B. Doesn't matter who sings, I always thought the music was more important than the lyrics.

It's very tough trying to fit in all my favourites, and I've not managed to do it.

Here's my ten:-

1.  Highway Star
2.  Fireball
3.  Child In Time
4.  Maybe I'm A Leo
5.  Burn
6.  Wring That Neck
7.  Space Truckin'
8.  Black Night
9.  Demon's Eye
10. Woman From Tokyo

(apologies to Mandrake Root and Mistreated, how can I leave them out?)

Child in Time
Lazy
Strange Kind of Woman
Black Night
When a Blind Man Cries
Fireball
Demon's Eye
Speed King
Highway Star
Pictures of Home
'We're going to need a bigger swear jar.'

@ cacho: No, those are the ones that I prefer, and I like DP. I practically grew up with them. DP In  Rock is what got me into that music in the first place, right back in '70.

I've got every single one of their studio albums, and a couple of live ones, but I don't think anything comes even close to the magnificence of those two.

I am mostly a MK 1 fan so my choices may be quite unusual.

I really like the Coverdale/Bolin DP. I have had countless disagreements over this but that is when I really started to get into them. Friends had been into DP for a while before me and I just didn't 'get it' until Coverdale joined. You'll have to note that the melody to 'Black Night' was at the time being used as a football chant in Britain. I then started to backtrack through their material and started to like the DPI/II stuff almost as much.

Do 'The Stanley' otherwise I'll thrash you with some rhubarb.

An excellent track indeed.I bought the single version of 'Might Just Take Your Life' when it was first released. The B-side is the wonderful instrumental.'Coronarius Redig'.

Burn was an excellent album.

Do 'The Stanley' otherwise I'll thrash you with some rhubarb.
