Amazing sounds is by far their best album imo
|
All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.

I loved how in the 80's & 90's they took some of their old songs and drastically increased the tempo...Since some live versions are very different than their studio counterparts, I also listed the album.
1) Assault & Battery (Warrior on the Edge of Time) 2) Spirit of the Age (Quark, Strangeness, & Charm) 3) Moonglum (Live Chronicles) 4) Conjuration of Magnu/Magnu (Live Chronicles) 5) TV Suicide (California Brainstorm - Live) 6) Silver Machine (Friday Rock Show - Live [with Lemmy]) 7) Back in the Box (Palace Springs - Live) 8) High Rise (Hawklords Live) 9) PSI Power (Hawklords) 10) Motorway City (Levitation)
"Hello b*****ds!" - Lemmy - Friday Rock Show

As a fan of Hawkwind since 1972, having heard every album the band has ever released and seeing them perform live 3 times, I would consider Hawkwind's best period would be from 1974 - 1993 (Best albums: Hall of the mountain grille / Warrior on the edge of time / Quark strangeness & charm / Levitation / Church of Hawkwind / Sonic Attack / Choose you masques / Chronicle of the black sword / Xenon Code X / Space bandits / Electric Teepee). There are so many good Hawkwind tracks but here are 10 good "mind blowing" ones:
(1) Psychedelic Warlords (2) Assault & Battery/Golden Void (3) Magnu (4) Spirit of the age (5) Levitation (6) Angels of Death (7) Waiting for tomorrow (8) Sword of the east (9) Images (10) LSD

I am currently digging: Hawkwind, Rare Bird, Gong, Tangerine Dream, Khan, Iron Butterfly, and all things canterbury and hard-psych. I also love jazz! Please drop me a message with album suggestions.

Actually I never listened to Hawkwind but always wanted to because... you know they are the fathers of space rock. And these lists would be a great... err... list.

' Been a fan of Hawkwind from 1975 - 1994, which I refer to as their classic prog space rock period. Seen Hawkwind live 3 times on 3 different tours. Favorite line-up included Huw Lloyd Langton on lead guitar (Huw has such a unique spacey guitar style ... perfect for Hawkwind). Gave up on Hawkwind after "It is a business of the future to be dangerous", when Dave Brock took the "rock" out of space rock, deciding to change the sound to the techno rave thing. Everything Hawkwind (Namely, Dave Brock) has done after 1994 isn't worth listening to (IMHO).
1. Sword of the east (The Xenon CodeX
2. Fall of earth city (Church of Hawkwind)
3. Looking in the future (Church of Hawkwind)
4. Waiting for tomorrow (Choose your masques)
5. Psychedelic warlords (Disappear in smoke) (Hall of the Mountain Grille)
6. Treadmill (Palace Springs)
7. Assault and battery/Golden void (Warrior on the edge of time)
8. Motorway city (Levitation)
9. Angels of death (Sonic Attack)
10. Images (Space Bandits)
... and there's so much more that's great from their studio albums from 1975 - 1994
