I guess Fripp felt that some of the elements of the tune leaned too strong toward Crim's earlier works. But that's just me. I'm not too familiar with what the band did after the 80s.

I love KC's live improvs, yet I could never understand why they included Providence on Red. The 73-74 line-up had loads of other superior improvised numbers.

Providence isn't that bad. The first minute and a half an the last three minutes were good.

Larks' Tongues In Aspic Part 1, Part 2, Red, Providence, Fracture, and Starless and Bible Black. How come they never play Larks' Tongues In Aspic Part 1live anymore?

Moonchild's Instrumental. I know it doesn't count as it is a proper song. Not that's not right. It's ... got a vocal section. Ok, the bolero in Lizard? Red I think. Vroom? Vroom Vroom? This is not easy. Um... Fracture, it's the most exciting for the longest time. Bang for Buck part 2

Another tricky one. I love all of them, but for me has to be 'Sailors'

I like all of them except Asbury Park which i never heard. Voted for Sailor's Tale. It could be Talking Drum, Prelude: Song of The Gulls, Larks' Tongues In Aspic, Part I, We'll Let You Know, Frackture

Really don't mind if you sit this one out. My words but a whisper, your deafness a shout.

First Tongues forever!
That´s unfair there are not included instrumentals from newer albums. I don´t think it would be without any chance.

Gotta go with LTIA part I as well... A Sailor's Tale would probably be my next choice, then maybe Trio?
Asbury Park is from "USA" by the way...

I think the original poster just focused on the 69-74 line ups. That said, Sartori is my favourite 80s instrumental

Very good question! This got me chasing my tail trying to put them in order. Difficult. But I go with Aspic 1, Red, Aspic II, then Fracture. That'll change tomorrow..
