but i agree that they are not the most progressive rock act, but more progressive indie rock/pop so im not dissapointed if they get rejected, since they are not that progressive but they are really good musciains who should appeal to most proggers

i think it is as much prog as bands like Sparks and 10cc, like artsy and clever pop/rock with plenty of twists and turms not normal in pop or even rock, they are defenitly prog in my book, to me clever writing is as important to prog then being able to compose long tracks, and this band is very progressive in terms of songwriting, and i think they fitt perfect for crossover they fit perfectly in the rould for inclusion in Crossover,
Crossover Prog contains progressive rock music that, though 100% progressive, (well if viewd through modern prog eyes hten yes but viewed agianst the classiv prog only merely) may have a musical connection to popular music (yes influence from different atists as Captain Beefhart, Queen, Rush and 10cc)-- whether it be the lack of emphasis on extended compositions (most short songs), or an influence from mainstream music in addition to classical, jazz and folk. (yes their is several marriges of different styles as classical piano, folk, and even some jazz) Compositions, however, still exhibit a high degree of sophistication (yes as much sophistiaction as band like Supertramp and Roxy Music, ELO, Alan Parson and other bands that are logical to compare them to), sometimes outright complexity, (yes abrupt changes in thematics and styles, odd-time sigs,, virtouse playing, spessially piano) and the musicianship and virtuosity is often on a par with established Prog acts.(yes indeed what i can judge the musciains are more then competent to play what they play with confidence) Much like their kin in the established prog sub-genres, these groups will incorporate many major parts of what defines prog rock: (yes i think so atleast to my ears and seems also Marty is intrigues though sceptical at first it seems he is somewhat differed his first view) the fusing of rock with the structures and discipline of more traditional musics, (yes indeed, ceveral styles of classical music, the use of syntheisizers and new technologies, (yes as far as i know a mix of traditional rock instrumentation and structure, indie rock sharpness with prog flexabilaty intelligent thematics, and the expansion of the form.(i think they expand the posabilatys in rock/indie and pop, with such a degree that should be taken seriously and not dismissed, ), i think they are atleast as prog as Muse Edited by aginor - March 04 2012 at 12:27 |

I'll check them.
Not prog in the least I'm afraid. Edited by Andy Webb - March 04 2012 at 12:10 |

Actually it is indie, one of the most indie sounding bands I've ever heard. Maybe there is some Prog hidden inside, but it simply sounds like Coldplay/Keane/general indie band - and that piano isn't helping much to make a case for Crossover Prog. But great music, I am glad I know them now. EDIT: However, it is not that easy, I cannot simply dismiss them. There is something special about them (when listening their 2010 Everything Under the Sun album) - songs like nostalgic Mistletoe, shortie The Sun, etc. Edited by Marty McFly - March 03 2012 at 08:06 |

There's a point where "avant-garde" and "experimental" becomes "terrible" and "pointless,"

this band have alots of energy and ballsy instrumental skills, and it sounds pop on the surface but then they hit you in the face with a fast classical piano roll, they mix, indie rock with classical piano, aucustic piano with stomping indie rock grooves, and flurishes of prog rock flavouring, you cna hear Zappa and Beefhart influence in the music but also Rush (heavy guitar), Queen (opretic), 10cc (humor and fast changes),
this band is really proggy, mean the indie tag is a bit misleading their is lots under the surface, the music is really complex, as complex as GG at times, listen verry close to what the pianist does, it is like Keane on speed, and Coldplay but only thousend more notes per beat http://www.myspace.com/jukeboxtheghost http://www.last.fm/music/Jukebox+the+Ghost if they are not fitted a pure prog sub they should atleast be prog-related casue this is a version of prog rock for me if only at the more popy side of things, but listen to this and lsiten to 10cc or Queen and their is some similar traits, but i think actualy this band pull of soem new prog tricks out of the hat also, listen to it whith the Zappa ears, not the Coldplay ears, |
