TH for me, though I appreciate the concept of DEVO and their sense of humor much more than their music.
A friend saw them on a late 80's tour and he said the opening band was a Christian rock band called DOVE and they had their name in huge letters projected above them. Anyway, the crowd was booing them and throwing stuff at the stage. After they finished their last song, the guys remained on stage while the DOVE behind them rearranged itself into DEVO and they began playing DEVO music. Completely briliant

TH never did anything as clever and much fun as Mongoloid.................(plus, Mark received a Moog ‘Sonic 6’ from the Dr. himself). You into Moog, you into Devo............
The first two Devo LPs are excellent - great guitars, great energy, especially the first album. Nothing after the first two does much for me - their second album solidified their sound and it practically fossilized from then on.....and the guitars are pushed aside for synth keys, never a plus in my book.
The Heads, on the other hand, released quality and varied material throughout their too brief existence.....wish they were together and touring.
I like to feel the suspense when you're certain you know I am there.....

Listen to Fear of Music. Listen to any Devo album. Fear of Music is so far beyond not just the music of the era, but music of any era, prog or otherwise. Look, I love Whip It and Peek-A-Boo and Freedom of Choice as much as they next guy. But Fear of Music is in my all time top 10. I am still 30 years later just discovering the depth of that sucker. Find myself a city to live in.
I'd agree, but you sure as hell can't judge Devo based on Whip It and Peek-A-Boo.
