This would be a lot easier if metatags were based on original release and not CD pressing or remaster date.

Most assuredly one of the 70's, probably 1971.

I only own CD's, no vinyls yet, but here's my collection. I started less than 3 years ago, so it will definitely continue to build. You guys have inspired me to begin cataloging my collection too. This only took me a listen of Permanent Waves to complete though (yes that's how I measure time Approve).

This list includes all albums, eps, and compilations, prog and otherwise. No singles though.

Hi,

More than half of my record collection came before 1979. Probably two thirds. It accounts for my being able to speak about them so much.

The least and leanest years were the 90's when I was broke and could not afford a whole lot!
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

My family is like a music commune. If you count all of the albums my family owns, plus the records my dad's department owns (he's a jazz studies professor), there should be 10,000, at the very least, some of them dating back to the earliest days of recording.  Because of this, I actually haven't bought a ton of albums. I just mooch off theirs. At most, I've bought about 50, the earliest being early/mid-60s, latest being 2012 or 2013. Also, I am a bit cheap.

I once did a year list for my LP collection (numbering around 1600) but I dunno what happened to it.  I usually put all my scribblings away somewhere to refer back to but I haven't this time.  What I do know is that my earliest year is around 1966 up to 2012.  I poached an LP from my folks called 'Big 16 Guitar Favourites' by (at the time) innovative guitarist Vinnie Bell.  Just a bunch of jazz/pop standards done in an early, experimental fashion.  It might date from 1965......?

I started cataloguing my collection on RateYourMusic two years ago and have kept it up to date since, so luckily this shan't be overly hard. I seem to recall once seeing a way to generate a graph of this on that site but can't recall how to do so, so this is from me doing it in google docs.

Wow. I'd say I've got around 1600 albums and the balk my collection would definitely be from the 1980's. Most of my CDs and such are in storage cause I recently moved back in with the parents. Lol. I've never catalogued my albums manually cause I tunes can do that for you, but I haven't imported all my CDs onto it just yet. I will in time. :)

Between my CD collection, records and stuff that I've ripped to my computer but are currently in storage, I'd say I have somewhere over 2000 albums.  So my list is:

1961-2013:  All of them.

Whew! That was tough.
I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?
