I remember really digging the Beach Boys albums when I was a lad. The sound quality was incredibly good and the songwriting was impeccable. I have fond memories later on in college of singing and playing Sloop John B with my buds. That was well before I ever realized Pet Sounds was considered Proto-Prog. RIP Brian Wilson.

Rest in peace to Sly Stone, the leade4 og Sly and the Family Stone, whom had a great impact even on prog, Yes funkyness is heavyly inspired by Sly and The Family Stone and Larry Graham, Sly is one of a a few handfold whom can be hindrer by alongside James Brown who mode funk, as a Key factor for funk as a genre.

Hi, Simon House brought HAWKWIND to the modern times by replacing the sounds that were being used in the early stuff that had lost their touch, and appreciation. It worked better when the sounds were "new" and kinda "foreign" to our ears, but as soon as we get used to them, they became kind of annoying, and Simon House brought over the real keyboard work that band needed. The opening of "In the Hall of the Mountain Grill" alone, is a treat ... still one of my favorite things to listen to in the car, along with Reefer Madness and Steppenwolf. |

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

Ariel Kalma (here under Prog Electronic), has passed. He had mentioned having cancer on his Bandcamp page, and his steady stream of releases had begun to wane recently. I'm very sorry to hear.

Loretta Swit was also the original "Cagney" from Cagney & Lacey! Swit & Daly were in the pilot movie together. Swit was to continue but was contractually obligated to continuing with M*A*S*H and its producers wouldn't release her. The role then went to Meg Foster (another underrated actress I like) for its first season only.
Swit mainly worked in television, but she never phoned it in. RIP. ![]() |

I thought they handled the Hawkeye/Hot Lips relationship well on that show. There was a sexual chemistry that could (mostly) not be acted on, but there was a deep mutual respect as well despite being at odds with each other constantly. Not that easy to pull off convincingly in a sitcom format. Actually, Winchester was probably my favorite character. Fish out of water. |

She was an excellent replacement for Sally Kellerman from the film...and had the best butt on TV.

Just seen this. Very sad news. That show was hot (lips) over here as well, Jim. In fact, my favourite TV show of all time. RIP to a wonderful actress and icon. |

Simon House, Keyboard player and violinist with High Tide then Hawkwind for many years and a notable session player and touring member of David Bowie's band has died aged 77.
His work and musicianship with Hawkwind took them to another level and their albums and live work were, without doubt, the very best of their career. The tour they did with him back on keyboards and violin (with Bridget Wishart) in 1990 was an absolute return to form. A colourful character and a superb musician who will be very much missed. RIP Simon. |

Dave Hilborne of Nova Cascade has passed away suddenly. A huge talent, he will be very sadly missed in the progressive music community.
