Not to worry, I won't give up on progholes and other (reputed) humans, just yet, but I think I'll go hug my young son now, and listen to the wee birdies a-singin' in the (acid rain-blighted) trees, just the same....Smile

It always surprise me about how Americans are racists about black people when they are such a high percentage of their population. And also why there's such less racism in Canada, and even less in Québec?... another no answer question about Canada v.s America...

Tony R

I really don't see what the problem is.  Why does it matter if I 'ave a different opioin of those articles than you?  I don't see any racisim in those articles because I don't know enough information regarding the circumstances of the situations,  but as an upstanding citizen I respect your views involving those articles and your views my person.  The question I ask you is how can we get past racisim if we keep reminding ourselves of it? Cheers!

And I am not frightened of dying, any time will do, I
don't mind. Why should I be frightened of dying?
There's no reason for it, you've gotta go sometime.
I never said I was frightened of dying.

But wouldn't a true non-racist look at those two articles and not notice the difference in color?  They would see those pictures and not even taken notice to the black guy "loots" white guy "finds."

I suppose you're right.  Anyway, I've found some more interesting racist articles.

In all seriousness, the point I was trying to make can be best made by the example used in the show South Park.  'ere is their city flag:

Now, when Chef asked the kids why they didn't see anything wrong with the flag, the kids answered that they didn't even notice the color difference because they thought of them all of them as people and not different races.  Leave it to South Park to give us a lesson a racism.

Everyone here needs to go back to the prog lounge
and argue about why ELP or Yes suck, or whether
Phil C. is the antichrist.

There are a lot of people on this forum. Some are
right wing, some are left...some are no doubt racist
and sexist, some are not. We sure ain't gonna
convince anyone to change their view of the world on
a prog-rock forum. But then I'm a cynic.

And if Quebec separates, I'm going to live there. They
have way better social programs than Ontario.

Americans complaining of racism...what next...the Afrikaaners didn't exploit the blacks, the Australians didn't prejudice against the aborigines.....the Americans didn't try to wipe out the indigenous indians?

Because if you look at the statistics- its amazing the percentage of Blacks that break the law in some way (or are in jail) is Ten-fold of other races- I think that has a lot to do with it.

Isnt racism....so cliche' by now?

Its pretty bad.  I think its partly an effect of poverty and anger, but there is still no justification.
