Porcupine Tree - Recordings sells for about $100.  Only 20,000 made and all numbered.  I happen to have #18153.

I am sure there are a lot of older, more obscure collectables but that one happens to be one of my most expensive.

Porcupine Tree's  Stupid Dream on Amazon.com was around $54 last time I checked. That's too bad considering it's not dated or even a rarity.

Tull's first single (Aeroplane/Sunshine Day) is supposed to be very expensive because it was misprinted Jethro Toe.

In the UK, I believe the rarest commercially released prog albums are;

Dr Z- Three Parts To My Soul (pseudo gothic, Black Widow copy of dubious merit....)- about £500 or more

Leafhound- Growers Of Mushroom (terrific heavy blues rock, with Pete French of Atomic Rooster/Cactus singing and various members of Black Cat Bones)- again, £500 or more...

Jean-Michel Jarre's debut album, Deserted Palace (1972). I saw it on eBay a while ago for 300$

Also, Gentle Giant, Soft Machine and early Zappa LP's are VERY expensive here in Norway!

RIO/AVANT/ZEUHL - The best thing you can get with yer pants on!

I bought a copy of Affinity's 1970 album at a boot sale for £2 and sold it at another one years later for £200

Wish I could do that every day!

Anybody seen any of Dream Theater's Prism records recordings selling?  These were made in the early-mid 90's from various soundboard recordings by Mike Bahr and distributed primarily through the Ytsejam internet list.  They were limited and numbered to 500 or 1,000.

I've got:
Precious Things #153
When Dream and Today Unite (LaBrie singing all WDADU songs live) #668
Majesty Antiquities #407
Majesty Scenes from a Memory #246

Anyone interested, drop me a line - [email protected]

apparently there is a version of larks tongue in aspic where the cover is an off pink color, and the sun moon thing is the same, but the rest is differnet, only like 150 made because the pink was an error at the pressing factory or something, no idea of the price, or if this is true

I always thought 'The Pentatauch of the cosmogany' was the rarest LP I had, by Greeslade with a huge LP sized book by Patrick Woodroffe, the guy that did the cover of Pallas's 'The Sentinel'

music was merely Ok, but the book was mindblowing... usually goes for a bit of $$
