Topic: have you listened Posted: December 06 2005 at 12:03 |
Have you listened to Tales From Topographic Oceans all the way through at once? If so, did you find it to be a challenge or did you enjoy it?
I have listened to it all the way through at least 8 times, and I always enjoy it.

Yes, several times, in fact I find that works better than dipping into
it. Of course, you have to allow time for that, but even then the whole
is not much longer than some single CD's nowadays. It's very
atmospheric. The only track I've played much on its own is the first,
"The Revealing Science of God".
BTW the Rhino re-master (which I have) has an extended into to the 1st
track, the sounds of waves (from presumably the topographic ocean!)
washing over you, and it works brilliantly, suprised it was never on
the original!

8 times,I bought it the day it came out and must have listened closer to 800 times. It still sounds as fresh today as it did then.

That's the only Yes album I do not have. Is that good? Should I try it?

Many times.
And also saw them do the whole thing at Newcastle City Hall, probably around 1974-5.
I have to say I don't like the remastered version with the extended intro - it worked better for me when "Dawn of a light..." came straight in.

Yes I have, but only a few times because I don't own it yet. I didn't find it any more challenging than CTTE or Relayer.

I have never listened to it all the way through. I like the 1st song quite a bit, but after that it starts to drag as they lose focus IMO.
