The obvious one is of course Bo Hansson - "Lord of the Rings".
Hawkwind quote Lord of the Rings on "Choose Your Masque": "I have come, but I do not choose now to do what I came to do" are the words Frodo speaks when he has finally reached the peak of the volcano, into which he is supposed to throw the ring. (I bet hardly anyone noticed that).

I know one, Glass Hammer's debut album (although they have more than one Tolkien inspired album). I don't like it much though....

Pär Lindh Project has two nice albums about Tolkien's world: "Bilbo" and
"Dreamsongs from middle earth" and in a more prog style Mostly Autumn's
"Music inspired by the Lord of the Rings"

There are quiet a bunch of musicians fond of Tolkien's trilogy, it comes now
to my mind Ken Hensley (Uriah Heep).
This is the way the world ends

It seems that a lot of bands were inspired by JRR Tolkien for their lyrics. Do you know about some?

I'm thinking about  :

  • Rivendell - Rush
  • The trees - Rush (reminds me of the talking trees in the Lord of the rings)
  • The band Isildur's bane
  • Not prog but : The battle of evermore - Led Zeppelin
  • Again : Ramble on - Led Zeppelin (clearly state Gollum and the Ringwraiths)
Those are the ones which came to my mind. Anymore?

RIP in bossa nova heaven.
