The more I listen to the psych bands I own, the more interested I get about their sound. That is why I need all of your help and recommend me some good psychedelic bands.
This are the psychedelic bands I own: Pink Floyd Porcupine Tree No-Man Gong Band of Rain Hidria Spacefolk (ep only) Amplifier (debut only) Chroma Key (dead air for radios only) Hawkwind (warrior at the edge of time only) Nektar (recycled only and I don't think is all that psychedelic) Steve Hillage (cat fich rising only) Labradford (psych post-rock) I wanted to get some Oceasize for some time now and Eloy too. Please recommend me a good starting point for them too. |

Amon Duul II... though listed as Krautrock... I think the 3 albums Phallus Dei, Yeti, and Tanz Der Lemminge should be any psychedelic collection. Incredible albums. |

Yeah, lots of Krautrock stuff is psych. I like psych iby tself more as a genre, then as a Prog genre.

Krautrock examples - Brainticket, Cosmic Jokers, Cluster, Ash Ra Tempel, Gila.
If you want to learn about the origins of psychedelic music, you need to look at US 60s folk-rock such as The Greatful Dead, The Byrds, Love, Jefferson Airplane, Holy Modal Rounders, etc. as well as stuff like Beach Boys, Red Crayola, and The Doors. British artists like Donovan and The Incredible String Band were influential on much of what you listed. Early Soft Machine & Caravan are worth checking out for psych influences. There's more modern sophisticated pop psych that you'd probably like including XTC (especially their Dukes of Stratosphear alias), Robyn Hitchcock, Kula Shaker, Gorky's Zygotic Mynci and The Dream Syndicate. Other space rock you should check out includes Man, Ozric Tentacles, and Spaceman 3. You're clearly missing out on Steven Wilson's strongest psych music - he has several great albums under the name Incredible Expanding Mindf**k (I.E.M.). You need a few more Hawkwind albums by my reckoning. Space Ritual, Astounding Sounds, Hall of the Mountain Grill, Quark Strangeness and Charm, In Search of Space, Levitation, Warrior on the Edge, Doremi Fasol Latido, PXR5, Live 79, Hawklords: 25 Years On, Sonic Attack, Hawkwind. That's what I'd suggest as buying order for their essential albums. |

Down to Earth is Nektar's psychedelic album.
And as much as I dislike them... The Mars Volta's DeLoused in the Comatorium has heavy psychedelic elements that were lost in the 'sobering up' period before Frances the Mute was released. On DeLoused, the sound effects/distortions/other oddities are all there for a reason and really do play into the plot. I still don't like what Cedric and Omar did to Jim, but that's a personal beef. AND CHECK OUT TODD RUNDGREN! A Wizard, a True Star is without a doubt one of the most important releases of 1973 --- it was decades ahead of its time, and it was written, performed, and produced by ONE MAN ALONE. He did it all for himself. And it is absolutely flawless. Site curators -- if you are reading this -- give Todd Rundgren his own section, if not for his solo prog works, then at least as a prog-related artist (founder of Utopia) Edited by DeepPhreeze - May 20 2006 at 00:11 |

never really sure what constitutes psychedelic anymore, but if you don't own these, you should Amon Duul II - Yeti and Wolf City, just to start as they are the greatest band ever
Agitation Free - Melesch and 2nd, highly recommended, fantastic
Grobschnitt - Solar Music Live, greatest live album ever
Lard Free - I'm Around About Midnight, some sort of mix between Krautrock, Electronic Prog and Zheul i think
Dyzan - Electric Silence, very strange, with "ethnic sounds"
Gila - Free Electric Sound
Ash Ra Tempel - s/t

My first albums & bands to get will be: Space Ritual, Yeti, I.E.M. and Ash Ra Temple. After that, I'll keep the recommendations open and get the other albums mentioned |

I'm not sure if others would agree, but I find Camel's early albums to be pretty psychedelic...up through Moonmadness.

^ I really need to check out all of that new Amorphous Androgynous
release. I'm a big fan of their previous work. Chamberry, if you're not
averse to purely electronic psychedelia, I have quite a few
recommendations for you... just let me know!
I can't believe there haven't been more suggestions of Ozric Tentacles! You might also want to check the psy/space section of this site... specifically the S section... </thinly veiled shameless self promotion> |

Keep 'em coming everybody. I'll have them all place in line after I listened to the frist ones.
One question to Tristan Mulders: What is so psychedelic about Amplifier? I have their debut and I dont see any psych parts. All I hear is progmetal á la late Porcupine Tree without the spacy/psych parts. |

*Igra Staklenih Perli However, no albums may not be released on CD. I think 'Drives' is the best album. Igra Staklenih Perli is ex-Yugoslavia group. *Marble Sheep Once Takahashi Akiko (ex-Ars Nova) played in this group. There are many CD albums. Would you please listen to 'Stone Marby'.
