Out of these: Rush - Hemispheres- Lifeson always has a good tone on his solos, not a fan of his general sound during chords and everything though. Love Rush, nonetheless. Porcupine tree - Deadwing- very good tone overall, SW is a mediocre guitarist IMO. Pink Floyd - Dark SIde of the moon- incredible tone, Gilmour knows how to hear. Gentle Giant - INterview- Decent tone, why this album? No real mind blowing solos soundwise. But GG was never like that. King Crimson - Red- Fripp's tone is very technical on this (with the exception of Starless which has a great tone.) Overall, I don't like his tone nearly as much as his songwriting. Yes - Fragile- Yes were great writers but I'm never a fan of Howe's tone. He plays too many notes and is choppy a lot. Rush - 2112 Pink Floyd - Wish you were Here Genesis - Nursery Cryme- Hackett's got a great tone as always. Love his playing. He knows how to solo emotionally without playing 5000 notes a minute. Dream Theatre - any album ( I 'dont know them)- Petrucci's tone is okay. Can get annoying with the absolutely ridiculous amount of notes but he has his moments. Tool - Lateralus- Heavy guitars can't really judge the tone much, incredible album though. Mahavisnu Orchestra - Bird of fire- Great tone. Queen - II- May has a great tone as well.

Out of the list, Wish You Were Here takes it.
To answer in general I'd have to really rack my brain though.

Phish- Lawn Boy (Trey Anastasio) His tone is always incredible. Roine Stolt also always has a great tone. It's really not about tone's per album, it's just in general (guitarists tone's don't change that much.) I would also add in John Scofield but he's not in the archives yet (Jazz Fusion.)

Out of these, I'd have to say Lateralus.
