How about adding Gong sax and flute player Dider Malherbe as a solo artist? He made 4 solo albums. Also the trio Hadouk, consisting of Malherbe on all kinds of wind instruments and percussion, Loy Ehrlich on keyboards, hajouj (a kind of bass), kora and synth and finally Steve Shehan on all kinds of exotic percussion instruments.
Here a link to the homepage of Malherbe, which includes sound and video examples of Hadouk too: http://www.didiermalherbe.com/ Edited by BaldFriede - February 01 2007 at 20:26 |

Geez I thought Maherbe 's Hadouk works would've been included already.
It might be a tad too jazzy, but it should fit in the JR/F (ethnic fusion that can go alonside some Oregon discs)

let's just stay above the moral melee

Hmm, I have heard Hadouk Trio's latest album, and if it's anything to go by, I think prog-related would be more appropriate. Not really prog IMO.
Haven't heard any Malherbe solo albums though. Edited by Jimbo - February 02 2007 at 07:52 |

I just noticed that Didier Malherbe is not listed on PA as a solo artist, which is why I unlocked and am bumping this topic. I support Malherbe ffor JRF.
This is a great track off of Bloom: |

Superb sample, Greg. I'll post in the JRF team thread.

I did a search of all the posts about the Trio and Didier Malherbe solo on the JRF team thread:
There is no post discussing Didier Malherbe solo, but he appears in all the posts containing the JRF bands masterlist. He is under "Canterbury artistis", with a red underline whose meaning I don't know (if it has any meaning). Here's the last such post of the master list: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=37670&PID=2942623#2942623 The Hadouk Trio has been suggested twice by Chameleon when he was in the team, back in Jan.-Feb. 2008, but the only reaction he got was that the Trio was added to the master list of bands to be evaluated. |

The red colour code meant that someone was working on the bio. But I don't remember him being discussed or the Haiduk Trio. I like the Haiduk Trio, no JR but World Fusion, and I am not really sure about their inclusion, it's more on the world side of Fusion. I am not familiar with Malherbe's solo output.

I knew that red colour for the font means someone is working to add the band, but does it apply to the underline too?

The underlining was just a small technical problem. Back then we copied the Canterbury list from Calyx and they appeared underlined when pasted and I was too lazy to change it afterwords.
