Manfred Mann's Earth Band - Chance. Maybe not the best from the list, but it's the 1980 album i have the softest spot on these days.
The 1980 albums of Genesis, Rush, Yes, Eloy and Kansas are also favourites of mine. Edited by Cristi - March 05 2007 at 07:36 |

Nothing on this list really interests enough to vote for it. But I have ten other favorites (stole five of them fron Assaf's list):
ZAMLA MAMMAZ MANNA Familjesprickor (Family Cracks) ROMAN BUNKA Mein Kopf ist ein schlafendes Auto PICCHIO DAL POZZO Abbiamo Tutti I Suoi Problemi WOLFGANG BOCK Cycles Have yet to hear Abus Dangereux |

I hesitate between Hawkwind and Tangerine Dream but I'll go for the energic space rock of Levitation.
After comes Permanent Waves for me |

Oops! I voted before I saw the real choice. Add another vote for Peter Gabriel III. That's one of the best albums of all time, in any genre.

Peter Gabriel's third out of these. My real favourite from this year
however is Familjesprickor by Zamla Mammaz Manna. Other fine albums
from this year is Génération Sans Futur by Art Zoyd, Ardeur by Eskaton
and Eider Stellaire's debut.

Of those, Colours.
Zamla Mammaz Manna's "Familjesprickor" should be on that list. Excellent album!

PG3 or "Melt" has special memories for me in 1980 -i just bought my first "decent" hifi system (after months of auditioning and research) and sounded fantastic, played this album over and over again!

I go for Drama because it is my favourite Yes album.
Good runner-ups are Duke, Permanent Waves, Defector and PGIII. A little step under lie the weird A by Jethro Tull, and Civilian: both very enjoyable, but less consistent than the aforementioned fivesome. |
