'Awaken' is the better track IMO. I love Cinema Show, but Awaken is one of my favourite prog rock songs ever.

Cinema Show is one of my all time favourite progtrack. The humouristic love-song lyric together with some great instrumental work, the 7/8 part with Banks keyboard especially. A masterpiece!

A month or two ago I had the occasion to listen several times to the whole "Going for the One" and I did enjoy the Zeppelinesque side of it, but I can't remember about "Awaken" anything more than it had many piano parts. I don't think such a thing ever happened to me about a praised prog song! I'll try & give it another chance, maybe there was something wrong with me. On the other hand, Cinema Show is an excellent song (not a great masterpiece, but still) which at this moment has a very strong influence on my feelings. The way Peter sings "Once a man, like the sea I raged" contains and tames all the sad, sad, sad things have recently happened to me and also the way I want to save myself out of them. Hence the vote.

I voted for Awaken too, but I don't think its their best track... that goes to The Gates of Delirium, no question.

Both songs have very boring middle sections but the finale to Awaken is as good as it gets.

Cinema Show - a tie now at 31!
Though my preference musically is Yes over Genesis - Cinema Show is a masterpiece that is hard to beat and my personal favourite Genesis track.

I voted for Awaken just to even things up.
Which do you like better, apples or oranges?
Even that analogy doesn't quite work for me because I do like oranges better and maybe Awaken is the apple here.
Hey, with a couple of media players you can play them both at the same time. Try that!
Take a little Ex-Lax with father Tireseias....

I think I found God or something. If you can manage to play the two simultaneously on your computer, Awaken outlasts Cinema Show, sometimes the loud bits of one overtakes the quiet bits of the other. Sometimes you get dissonance and sometimes harmony between the two pieces. Completely weird.

Cinema Show is a masterpiece, IMHO when Awaken was released the best years of Yes as songwritters were already behind, while Genesis still had another great album to release.

I think both songs are amazing, but I went w/ Cinema Show. I probably would've went for the Yes tune if it was something like Heart of the Sunrise.

I vote for Cinema Show.
Awaken is the only Yes suite I don't like. I find it dull, uninspired and too "ambientesque" .
