I know little of his solo career, so I went for the Dark Side. Of the Moon, that is. Though I find it musically inferior to Animals and Wish..., I think it has the best ratio between lyrical themes / accessability / singing / melodies. Animals is not the album to keep me attentive to the lyrics, and Wish... has too few lyrics. As someone else said, The Wall leaves me cold as an album (now).
I find something missing - Meddle. It has all his major lyrical themes there, developed in a minimal manner that I really enjoy.

I vote for "Wish you were here", the only time that Roger showed he has a heart after all
(And honestly, how can anyone consider lyrics like "Big man pig man ha ha charade you are" as good stuff?)

I wanted to vote for Pros & Cons but I enjoy the lyrics in Animals and DSOTM more.

Agreed, for a while Pigs was my least favourite song on the album, but "You radiate cold shards of broken glass" is one of the most imaginative insults I've ever heard.

I've chosen "Animals", but before "The Dark Side of the Moon" Waters had already written impressive lyrics. My favourite line by Waters: "Envy is the bound between the hopeful and the damned" (Green is the Colour)

I prefer the rawness of The Wall to the symbolism of Animals.

Are you serious? And still it's credited to R. Waters! Speaking about forgery...

if Gilmour wrote good lyrics, it sure wasn't done on purpose. He admits being a crappy lyricist, which is why he's subcontracting them to his wife.
And to be quite truthful, as soon as the contractor's contract is over, I'd look for someone else, cause she sucks!!!
Which is probably why he's with her!!
'cause she does suck!!!

The Wall. Mostly because it has an extra disc advantage. That's one more disc to impress me with lyrics. How could anyone deny that?

I've always loved the lyrics from Dark Side. What really makes the album shine though is when they choose not to include lyrics such as On the Run or Great Gig
