I had my popup blocker off, after a FireFox update, and a tab loaded with some "Check Your PC for Malware" I didn't ask it to download anything and it did anyway. That is a Firefox problem. But the file it downloaded from this Malware site contained a trojan. Good thing for antivirus. Anyone see something like this happen?

It actually happened to me at work. It didn't download anything but it took me a while to close all the windows.

I had my popup blocker ON and it's happened to me TWICE, but only by going onto PA ....I x'd it out before it could fully download the file but still what the hell. Also, I have the popup- blocker that "allegedly" blocks all the ads on PA and it did for a week, and now they're back and its still on

I got a window that said to download a spyware checker and I hit cancel but it brought up a new window anyway, then I exited out of that and a third window with the one option "OK" came up. I used my antivirus and spyware programs and found nothing though.... Oddly enough, the same thing happened to me twice (and my brother once) when I was trying to access mlb.com and couple weeks ago.

Yeah, this is ten times worse than those "You've won a free Apple iPhone" ads. I didn't think that was possible.

I've been getting this as well. (I am on a mac, also. Mac users cannot make the dangerous assumption that they are free from viruses and spyware.) I noticed it after a pram reset where the date goes back to 1969 and it fouls up the router. It happened a second time after forcing the date back and forth, but not a third time and it has happened under normal browsing conditions, so not too consistent.
Then I thought it might actually be a legitimate ad from a PA sponsor, something that happens when your connection to the website is slower than normal or shows data interruptions, giving the sponsor an opportunity to offer their ware to fix the potential trouble. Is it possible? |

I hope that this is being addressed by the admins. I hope that no members or visitors have been infected. That would be a real black eye for this website.

I'm still getting this problem on my work PC. It creates a very bad image for the site - we need to get rid of it ASAP!

I've asked M@x to investigate.

This morning when I first clicked into PA, I got redirected to a Malware site and it started downloading something. I clicked stop and then clicked into PA again and I haven't had a problem since. |

The ads on PA are getting rediculous. I'll pay money to the site if this sh*t will just stop. Otherwise, I might leave. It's not worth it lately.

I'm curious if it's possible for Max to make two options: a free site,
and the version for members willing to pay; one with, one without
commercials.

For Christ's sake, people! Get yourself Firefox with Adblock and NoScript and stop complaining! I did and I've never encountered any of the problems you mentioned. I SEE NO ADS AT ALL! Edited by Tuzvihar - December 03 2007 at 13:31 |

Or one could just not have incredibly annoying and invasive ads on one's website.

There are as you know other threads for discussing whether you like ads or not, this thread is specifically about ads etc which might put your computer at risk.
As I said above, I have asked M@x to sort out the malware issue urgently.

^ Thanks for that Bob. I don't have this problem myself (pop up and script blocking does the trick), but some non-members I know are complaining about this as well. Let's hope M@X figures out how to prevent PA from getting bad advertisement (no pun intended) in this manner.
