Topic: Best Album From My Favourite Non-Prog Posted: May 26 2008 at 22:10 |
Out of curiousity, which of some of my favourite non-prog albums do you prefer?
I assume you will have heard at least one of these - and if so, vote for it.
Also note: There is NO classic rock, and for good reason. If I put Abbey Road, Paranoid or IV in, they would dominate.

I'll go for "Laughing Stock". A magical album by a band that always made wonderful music.

Choosing between Mezzanine, Goldfrapp and Portishead. Ah, what the hell, go for the "Dummy" There's that piece with ringing bell loop repeated that gets me everytime.
|
I never post anything anywhere without doing more than basic research, often in depth.

I've only have their last two, but those are amazing.

Dummy would be my pick from those as well, followed by Mezzanine.

Laughing Stock closely followed by Absolution. I do like what I've heard of a lot of those bands despite never hearing a full album.

out of those albums I'd probably say I like these 2 the most: Electric Wizard - dopethrone My Bloody Valentine - loveless I like these okay too: Boris - rainbow (I like Boris a lot but thats not my favorite of theirs) Soundgarden - superunknown Portishead - dummy actually I haven't checked much into Bohren & Der Club of Gore yet, they seem like something I'd like but so many bands to check out some tend to slip through the cracks,

Buckley was okay for a while there too, but I don't think I've listened to him in well over 10 years or so,

Yea that album specifically is really fun, they went downhill after Morning View though IMO.

As you can probably tell I reckon they are all pretty damn good, check them out.

I could have easily chosen Feedbacker or Amplifier Worship for Boris, but Rainbow is my favourite lately. Bohren is awesome, I've only got that album, bbut if you like extremely slow "doom" jazz you'll love it. Great atmosphere and melodies.

Grace gets me pretty , only heard it last year though - so it's still sorta fresh.

Haven't heard them all but I'm pretty sure none of them will be affecting the standout album anytime soon:
Kind of Blue

I've heard almost no albums from that list. But KIND OF BLUE IS AMAZING!

Being more of a metal person it was a difficult choice between Dopethrone and Welcome to Sky Valley (actually Kyuss self titled... but anyway) for completely different reasons.
But Dopethrone wins because I'm on a bit more of a doom binge at the moment.
That album is a monster.

The choice was not easy, but Jeff Buckley-Grace wins by a hair for me.
I love Kyuss and some of Muse is awesome as well, so those are just behind Buckley.
