Judas Priest's new album Nostradamus

Hi All,

This is my first post.
I have just finished listining to the new Judas Priest release, Nostradamus. I think that this album is a very prog album. It is not just another Heavy Metal album. This 2 disc set is Judas Priest's first concept album. It has everything a prog lover would admire. Gental and softer songs, mixed with heavyer songs. All songs run together very well. I am not saying that Judas Priest should be added to the Prog Archives. I am just saying, if you like Prog give it a listen (if you don't like prog, I guess you wouldn't be here!).
Opinions pease.

     If it sounds anything like "Sad Wings of Destiny" or even "Rock A Rolla" or "Sin After Sin" I'm buying it.  Otherwise I'm not interested because I grew not to like regular metal/powermetal so much anymore.  Really, the only metal I'm into now is progressive in one nature or another.  Be it tech metal or prog metal, even neo classical metal like Yngwie Malmsteen I can still dig or classic doom metal with prog influences like Black Sabbath.  For the main part though, I only listen to metal bands such as Fates Warning, Pain of Salvation, Symphony X, Zero Hour, Threshold, Indukti, Nemo, Mindflow, Dream Theater with Kevin Moore on Keys, and other like minded bands when it comes to metal and listen to symphonic, space, hard, and crossover prog a lot more than prog metal.  I still love my prog metal though.  There's some great proto-prog metal too.  Let us know if it sounds anything like the three Priest albums I mentioned.  If it sounds like Sad Wings that would be perfect.  Whoops, I almost forgot.  Welcome to prog archives, the only site you really need to know just about every or anythin prog related.  Be it new releases, reviews on all kinds of prog bands including some of the most obscure yet best sounding, or sound clips, videos, and songs to check the band out, prog archives has it and much more.  I've been searching the prog sites for 7 years and rarely go to another now.

Well I will tell you this, Paulieg. I am 48 years old, and much like you I am not into the metal thing anymore (though I always had a soft spot for Judas Priest). I have always been a symphonic/ space rock prog lover (Yes, Pink Floyd, The Flower Kings and Porcupine Tree, and much, much more). This album has all the elements I love.
It does harken back to the "Sad Wings of Destiny" days; but dare I say, better?

I'm not a giant Priest fan, but I gotta admit that Rod Halford, Glenn Tiptin, and KK Downing put some serious creative thought into this album.  It's a bit different from their previous, straight up metal works.

I actually think it's pretty good overall. 

I think I already responded on another thread related to this album, but it's pretty good.  I'm no huge JP fan (not bought an album since Painkiller) but for a by now ancient established band it's pretty good, certainly compared with what some of their peers have released in the last few years.  I still need to give it a few more listenings -- there's a lot of music here.
