A refreshing poll at last......but i am afraid it's not going to get a lot of answers.
Hawkwise you should have given more info about these 2 guitarists as not everyine knows their names.
Roy Albrighton is the leader of english band NEKTAR, often thought as German as they were living in Germany back then, thus associated with ''krautrock''
Hugh Langton was this fantastic guitarist for HAWKWIND during the 80s.....going solo now but still gravitating around the Hawks....was part of the Hawkfest 2008.
Both deserve better recognition especially on this site, i think.
so tie vote

Hugh was in fact on the First Hawkwind album , but left after seeing
God after being spiked with LsD at the Isle white Festival in 1970
but did return to the Ship around the end of 78 and Played some
Blinding Guitar on albums such as Levitation which also featured
One Ginger Baker and Tim Blake ,this was followed up by Two more good
albums with some lovely playing by Hugh Choose your Masque and Sonic
Attack Hugh Bowed out again on the Chronical of the Black Sword , the Live Blacksword Album shows Hugh in Top Form

I'm voting for Huw ( sure that's how it's spelt ) Langton, as he is short of support. He was awesome when I first saw Hawkwind, about '79 I think, at Manchester Apollo. Brilliant, mesmerising gig.

| Yepp your right my Mistake it is spelt Huw being from Wales Huw a good old Welsh Name and yes i think that 79 tour was one the best Tours the Hawks ever did all the band were on top form for that one Huw and Tim Blake complimented so well ,

Sad that this poll doesn't take off in a prog site.......2 such wonderful guitarists..!!!!! sadly not very popular!!
Buy some NEKTAR or HAWKWIND , guys!! ..they're as good as Hackett/Howe.

^^ I'll tell you Hawkwise, Tim Blake, now there is a keyboard player, very underrated IMO. The Crystal Machine and all. Just thinking of that, gonna have to dig out my old Gong albums and his solo albums for a listen.

Pfft again, like asking how long is a piece of string yawns again

I prefer Huw as well, being a seasoned Hawkfan (seeing them live will do that to you) . Never was a big Nektar fan, so ....

I second my colleague febus' august comments. Some people just keep looking for the same comfort foods (leaving them numb) while there is so much to wish you were there (Hawkspace, Planet Gong, TDream, Bjorn Lynne, Spiral Realms, Pulsar, Parallel or 90 Degrees, Sunscape and so many more ....)
Too bad for all you uninitiated!
