Like I said their site was down. Shame about the myspace site only putting commercial music up. One wonders who their target audience is albeit quite a few visits to the website.
No offence taken UMUR about validity, we all have sell by dates, and my opinion clearly has expired on this one

Talk about opening a can of worms. Itīs nice to know that others feel as I do about Mew getting included on PA though. Be prepared to fight for your opinion Ehron. This is a controversial suggestion.

It's not a controversial suggestion, nor is it a can of worms, and I sincerely hope that no one is prepared to fight the Crossover team on this. If on hearing the new album (like I promised) we find it not suitable for Crossover then I will personally nominate them for Prog Related.

Thanks Dean
...and I didnīt mean fight in an unpleasant way. I just meant that he would have to prepare some valid arguments because there has been some resistance against the inclusion of Mew. So I meant prepare for discussion not fight in a literal way. And I would call Mew a controversial suggestion since itīs taken somewhere between 2 or 3 years since the first suggestion and hopefully the soon to be revealed verdict. One of the very difficult borderline cases. Mew is commercial pop/ rock at itīs core but has enough sophisticated and innovative elements to be a great addition to PA IMO.

^ if you make it a "controversial" addition then by site rules they would need the unanimous vote of all Xover team members for inclusion and not just the majority vote. Mew are listed as "Neo/Art/Post" on Progressive Ears and "not yet classified" on ProGGnosis - given that, I'm prepared to say they would not be a controversial addition - we are just deciding whether to add them to Xover or to nominate them for Prog Related.

Ok then I guess I misunderstand the term controversial in this case. I have no desire to make it even harder to get them included. Letīs just say they are a difficult borderline case which is evident when you look at the time itīs taken to evaluate them. My personal preference would be Crossover but itīs nice to hear that youīre keeping a door open for prog related.

I've just been told off for suggesting that Mew should be on this site - I think the above posts in favour of Mew are spot on! - Hope 'No more stories...' closes this debate - great site by the way! lol Bartje

No, bartje, you were simply pointed out that there's already a topic suggesting Mew for inclusion. This one.

Fair comment- just a little frustrated that Mew have -after all this time not been included yet-just my ( and quite a few other people's opinions.) Thanks for guiding me towards this discussion though. - Bartje

It shows as a great big red-cross "no leach" image, not the Mew image.
When your kids grow and get into things like Pokemon, or whatever craze will be around then, you'll know loads of things you never knew now, and never thought you'd ever know, or ever wanted to know. Edited by Dean - August 31 2009 at 18:35 |

The image shows up fine on my computer. Oh well. Anyway, my job actually requires me to know things like Pokemon. |

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE add Mew to PA. Having listened to the new record they definitely belong to the site. My personal preference would be crossover as well.
Come on people! |

I definitely agree Mew should be included, either in Crossover or in Prog-Related, though crossover fits them perfectly in my opinion.

I haven't seen this thread yet, but I would say certainly. Xover might be pushing it, but at least Prog Related.

Mew should definitely be here - confused as to why they are not -but hey that's what this site's 'team' seem to think - pity - love the new album though -hope anyone else who like Mew does too- that after all is much more important -enjoy their music - maybe one day the 'team' will see the light -cheers Frengers! |
