Another vote for Chick Corea here! As much as I love the other three, Chick was the driving force behind RTF. Al, Stanley, and Lenny may have been masters of their domains, but Chick was the master of the RTF universe.

I saw Stanely Clarke and Al Di Meola playing their respective instruments live, but acoustic. Joined with Jean-Luc Ponty. In the Rite of Strings "Tour" I must Al Di Meola in the acoustic guitar, is quite boring though sometimes amazing, he gets stuck too much in few notes and starts noddling around, which most on the concert including me didn't enjoy, still his playing on RTF is really great, but he doesn't get me vote. Stanley Clarke, well seeing/hearing the solo he made that day, I must say he's one of the best bassiest on the entire world, not Rock since he played Acoustic Bass. It was FREAKINGLY AMAZING!! He gets my vote Chick Corea is a genius in the keyboards, but not that of fan of his. Lenny White, hmm, he's quite good, but compared to other 3 he gets quite shadowed pittily.

Well in RTF Chick Corea had the central role, I think...
But I'd prefer Al Di Meolas overall solo output.

Out of that bunch I would say that Corea is probably the best at keys, DiMeola might be best at guitar, Clarke, well, I will give him bass and White, although it could be open to debate, might be the best drummer listed.....

How can you not take Chick Corea.
Since 67 he have been evolving and challenging in his music!!! Clarke is a Very good Bassiste but not a composer like Chick....Dimeola too and Clark is not the same since the end of RTF in the 70'S

Chick Corea is kind of undeniable... the rest are great, but basically Chick is God and they are his servants.

Best or favorite????
Aren't they all the best in their zone?? How do you want to come to the conclusion Chick Corea is better pianist than Stanley Clarke is a good bassist??
.
They're all the masters of their domains
The 4 are amazing and i love Return To Forever! no best or favorite for me; the 4 combined made this great band a pleasure to listen to for decades.
