Some of these I love, some I don't care much for, but most I have never even heard. There's so much prog, and so little time- especially for songs like these!
So it's simple enough: Which of these recent epics do you like the best? There's a little something for everyone here! By all means, add comments, even about songs you don't vote for- it might guide me toward what to acquire next (if and when I ever see fifteen dollars again). Go to it! Wow, a tough one. Went with Octavarium. The highlight of Dream Theater's career, and a very unique track in its own right. Sleeping in Traffic, In Earnest, Anesthetize, K.A III, Chupacabras, Duel with the Devil, The Great Nothing, and Harvest of Souls are all pretty sweet, though.

Heard most but not all of them, but it would be close between Harvest of Souls and Chupacabras for me, and since Harvest is doing so well without me, I plumped for Chupacabras.

Tetragrammaton, the most innovative of them all. I quite like Anaesthetise as well

Two of my favourite bands are represented in this poll: Magma and National Health.
I don't have National Health's, and that alone is enough to sop me from voting. Otherwise, I would very happily vote for KA III. |

I tried ordering Playtime recently, but the seller was out of stock and I forgot to reorder from someone else. Anyway, the only thing that bugs me a little is that while the CD was released in 2001, the material is from concerts performed in 1979. Not sure if this counts for what I think the OP was going for, e.g. modern "epics". |

Of those listed, my top five would consist of:
In my opinion, Yes' Mind Drive is pretty lame. Edited by Lofcaudio - October 22 2008 at 16:19 |

Don't know all, but quite a bunch of them.
Love Supreme it is. Incredible album, pittily underrated. Close ones would be Truth Will Set You Free and Harvest of Souls. |

My motivation for this poll is twofold:
1) To learn about epics from other bands that might appeal to me (so I apologize for any ignorance displayed) 2) To see how songs I already know stack up against each other I won't say which I like, which I don't, and which I don't know, but some of you might be able to figure out some of them. |

Anyhow, 'Flanagan's People' is remarkably good, so it gets my vote! |

I disagree Anyways, I voted Chupacabras, an amazing number from Mr. Phideaux Xavier! The emotional guitar playing on that as well as a number of other things on that song just floor me every time. I was about to vote In Earnest by Tangent, another very emotional and sad epic, but this time Phideaux gets the vote |

Harvest of Souls.
The more I hear of IQ, the more I love their music. They may actually be as good as Genesis (now I wait for the brickbats to fly my way). |

The studio version seems quite dull, but dreadful? The composition is quite good, but the live version on Live(or Songs?) from Tsongas is just so vivid, that it's great! |

I can concede that much. Songs from Tsongas is an excellent live DVD, and it was good that they did the song, but the Keystudio version sounds awful. I just listened to it prior to making this poll. Anderson's vocals are given a raw deal with the production. |

In between Octavarium and Anesthetize for me. I'll need to think about this one.

My choice would be the one glaring omission: Transatlantic's Stranger in Your Soul.

Interesting that you chose "Tetragrammaton" instead of "Cassandra Gemini." Both are quite amazing, though. Many fantastic selections though. I'm not sure what to pick right now.
