OK...
those of you who upload your own music to Myspace and other sites... What Mp3 configuration do you use ? VBR ? CBR ? 128 kbps or higher ? Does Myspace convert uploaded files ? Just tell me what you know... I upload my songs to Myspace and the audio quality is bad... [and yes... I know the Myspace music player is a piece of junk] |

You'll probably have to try some different encoding params to get a reasonable compromise between size and quality - 128 kbps might cut it for myspace, I don't know. Personally I think try 192 kbps VBR encoded with LAME should give you something really good.

Myspace does re-encode the file- even if you upload an mp3 at the same rate they stream at, it will be re-encoded, which is going to turn your already crappy sounding file into an even crappier one. You could try encoding at the highest possible bitrate that allows you stay under their size limit and see how it sounds. The pages with good sounding files have usually replaced the myspace flash player with another flash player. There are lots of topics out there explaining this if you do a little googling.
