Even the brutal band Nile are more progressive and experimental than Stratovarius, and I wouldn't consider them a worthy Archives addition. Seriously, if you take a great look at all the bands in the Tech/Post/Experimental/Progressive Metal genres on here, you will soon find that Stratovarius are nothing like them. Just a typical power metal band. This isn't MelodicMetalArchives for crying out loud, give the staff some f**king space!

Wow, quite some confusion here ... I guess you didn't really mean that Metallica are "pussy metal"?Wink

Anyway, you're free to join me at Progfreak.com in determining the prog status of (metal) albums. Smile

Stratovarius

Prog Metal Chart: Rejected

If the fact that this band has not just 3, BUT A WHOLE 10 no votes to their (as well as an "unsure" vote) name doesn't mean anything to people, please blow my brains out with a 12 gauge shotgun, because the fact that people keep bumping this thread every month or so is really starting to get on my nerves.
Seriously, the PMT has PROG METAL bands that need taking care of.
I kindly request that this topic stop being bumped, because it's not going to go anywhere.
I'm not changing my mind on this band, nor is any other PMT member, so just give it a goddamn rest, christ sake.
We currently have a backlog of 82 bands that have actually been approved and cleared for addition and we are working our asses off to get that done.
If anyone would like to help us get that done, that's great, but please, let us do our work without being hassled every month or so about a band we are never going to add.

To simply keep asking is not what lead to the inclusion of Metallica ... if people drew that conclusion from the Metallica inclusion, they're sadly mistaken.Wink

No you're wrong. That is because I think if this site is coherent, it should do exactly what I said. Metallica, Stratovarius, Sonata Arctica, etc, are at the same level of many prog metal/prog related (included because they are either prog metal related or proto-prog metal) bands in the site.

Hard to say if Stratovarius is a Prog Metal band, for me. I believe that 90% of Classic Metal Revival bands are Prog Metal, in one way or another.

You see dream Child, Syslesia or Heavenly... There are not Prog Mtal bands?

For me... These bands are Prog Metal at the same level of Stratovarius!

So your saying, if they are prog metal at the same level of Stratovarious, then they're not actually prog metal then?Wink

I was referring to the movement in general. In fact too of the Revival of Classic Metal (at least here in Europe) inserted Prog arrangement into a 100% Power Metal structure.

But certainly I have given three examples (Dream Child and Dyslesia are 2 French band who are Prog Metal, in my opinion [and not just in my opinion]) by three bands of which I had the CD in hand at that time.

I also added a suggestion for the inclusion of Dream Child.

About Stratovarius: For me Stratovarius is a good band in the vein of Rainbow, Warlord, Alcatrazz, Dio, Deep Purple and similars but with more Speed Metal attitude and with great Power ballads. In my opinion Stratovarius is only one of the best Classic Metal revival bands.

And yes... If Nightwish deserves to be here I wonder why Stratovarius are not in this list

I'm on the Progressive Metal Team and feel that Nightwish don't deserve to be on the list.
Stratovarius deserve a position just as muchWink
