Killers.  Probably because it was their first good album cover.

I bought Somewhere In Time on vinyl just for the big album artwork even though it's my least favorite 80s Maiden album.

Seven son is pretty cool, but had the Trooper image be the cover that would have been my choice. I actually have that one as a poster in my room.

The debut's Eddie matches the music - raw. After that, Eddie became more "commercial" .

The Killers one is perfect, it is the most simple, and yet the most terrifying, it gives off a jack the ripper/london streets at night feel

the only bad thing about it is how similar it is to the previous album's art

Yes, this devil doesn't look really frightening.

The devil in the movie 'legend' is really scary in my opinion :

Another representation that is worth mentioning is the one of Jean Delville's symbolistic movement :

The cover for 'Number of the beast' probably inspired this one for the death metal band Anata :

Anata : Dreams Of Death And Dismay, chronique, tracklist, mp3, paroles

And some pastiche of Number of the beast cover :

But back to the topic I like these ones :

BBC Archives - bbcarchives.jpg

Brave New World - brave_new.jpg

Seventh Son of a Seventh Son - seventh_son.jpg

Powerslave - powerslave.jpg

even if the last one is very derivative of E, W & F's cover artwork of their album 'All 'n all'

And Derek Riggs used the same theme for Gamma Ray :

Much more sophisticated than the previous one, much more details. And note that the hair style changed from punk attitude to heavy metal attitude. Plus don't forget the shadow/light  play.

I love Somewhere In Time. So much detail, references to the previous albums, and the cartoon drawings of the band members are excellent.

Powerslave is great, too. As is the latest one, AMOLAD.

That one was so good it was used on two albums - A Tribute To Insanity by Hexenhaus and Blessed Are the Sick by Morbid Angel.

Powerslave. I consider buying the LP version just for the purpose to nail the cover on my walls.
