So true!  These are probably are the three albums I have the greatest emotional attachment to, and never fail to cheer me up or put me on such a high that cannot be described by words:

I'm sure we all can remember discovering the "hidden world of prog" as i call it and feeling as high as a kite. Music can be a moving and powerful thing.
The sad part is when music fails to bring this kind of excitement anymore. Not there yet,hard to imagine that ever happening.

Petrovsk Mizinski -- I won't accuse you of being a negative nancy as I often find such rants hilarious, and is one of things about this site I take least seriously. It's just a message board, and sometimes I think some of us take things far too seriously around here.
Anyway, I was losing interest in rock-based and rock-related music generally, and so losing interest in music covered at this site to quite an extent. I also felt a little burned out on the categories here, but really delving into Jazz-Rock Fusion invigorated my Prog interest. Digging deeper into Miles Davis and Herbie Hancock, and then discovering related acts, and then more and more Fusion music, had a big effect on me. That said, I'm discovering lots of great music that wouldn't be considered any kind of prog.... More jazz, and more academic music. I've been picking up more Ligeti of late as well as many others. Rediscovering William Sheller's Lux Aeterna (an album I consider Prog) had a big effect on me too. And music such as Egisto Macchi's. I kind of feel musically spiritually re-invigorated.
After getting married, I moved away from music to a large extent (though I still got by watching films and hearing the soundtracks), Back then I wasn't really a rock buff, more classical, jazz, electronic, and world music, but my wife didn't appreciate the music so I stepped back from it. The last five years have been so eye-opening, though for a long time I found myself neglecting pure jazz and academic music more than, perhaps, was good for me.
It has been quite a trip as I've delved deeply into the various categories here: getting to know Comus, or Art Zoyd, John Greaves, Wyatt, Heldon, Art Bears, Volapuk, Bubu, Henry Cow, or Magma. I've had some wrong turns along the way (particularly when I was re-discovering so-called Prog some years ago), but discovered such a wealth of music that was joy-inducing and altered my musical directions.

Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I have observed before. It can be much like that with music for me.

Well, I´d like us not being belligerent with anybody, please. We´re all prog brothers and I opened this thread just only for sharing experiences, joys and space journeys through the hearts.
Please, there´s violence enough in the world, let´s do an alternative option and follow up with the original plot of this beautiful story.

Would like to confess here I have a soul illness, I´m in love yet with my ex-wife. And she is in love with me too, but we decided to separate our lives after 10.000 problems with her serious depression, the paradise turned into a hell, and well. It´s very sad for me trying to express this. I sail over the madness seas sometimes. Sure we´ll be together anyday.
Meanwhile, I listen Reinassance, Oscar and Ruphus. Thanks, and life is hapiness, love and stars are falling from the sky.

Well look, I'm not trying to a dick or anything, but no offense or anything, but I tend to think the Prog Music Lounge should be reserved for more serious, more meaningful topics than the one you posted. Yes, to an extent, music has helped me, but I can assure you, you will be a lot better off in the long run if you try to find the whole picture, a wider of range of things to make you happy. I know maybe I might be coming across as being "anti prog spirit" in nature to you (I can assure you, I listen to music that constitutes as prog rock daily though), but it's just how it is dude. There's only so much music listening you can do before you gotta realize you gotta go out and enjoy real life friends, and other experiences that just have little to do or nothing to do with sitting around and listening to music. You can probably see my absurdly large post count. All I used to do for a while was post on here and listen to music pretty much all day. It effectively just made my life get stuck in 2nd gear. Once I started to recover and starting getting out more and getting stuff done in my life I should have done ages ago, finally everything kick started again and now I don't have anywhere near as much time for this forum anymore and I listen to half, if probably less than the amount of music I used to listen to 18 months or so ago. In another 5 years, chances are I'll have 1/4 of the time for listening to music as I do now, but I've learnt to accept that.

Your apologies are very well received, no problem with that at all.
But...I can see you´ve got a serious damage. You think life is whatever you see, wev you feel, what you eat and which taste you relish MUST BE similar in everyone of us, Petrovsk Mizinski.
I work hard just to forget every hole in my universe, I dodge every black hole I watch far away, and have several friends and girls to share experiences. I´m not a proggyfreak, forget this...
In other way of things, I cannot believe how you can not comprehend what PROG MUSIC is really. For me, and for many people here, is MAGIC, in the most varvellous depth of those 5 and simple letters.

Amon Duul 2 - Wolf City ... in my mind the best rock album ever done.
Can - Future Days and Soon Over Babalooma. The long cuts take away tears in 3 seconds!
Vangelis - Blade Runner Soundtrack
Yes - Tales of Topographic Oceans ... in my mind the most ambitious and most incredible rock work ever done. It's a shame that neo-rockpopulists love to trash it because it is not a bunch of 4 minute radio songs!
