I don't blame them. Musicians, too, deserve private lives!

Meh.
Their last album was all around a step down from Takk... , and with a lot of my favorite bands of late not even coming close to releasing their best material, I'm not really too distraught. I guess I can hope this'll bring out even better music for Sigur Ros, if anything. |

I don't see a problem. http://www.sigur-ros.co.uk/news/?p=1496
"we started working on something a few months ago, then we scrapped everything and sold our studio and rehearsal space. now we are back in the drummer’s garage, rocking out like we did when we were 14. i think it’s gonna be good.” I remember a few years ago they announced they were taking a break, and about a year after that they were already hard at work on the Endalaust album. There's no real break going on now as far as I understand, they're just busy doing other things and because of that they're slower on the Sigur front, but still working on new stuff.

All the news post said was that there won't be an album this year because of the children. Considering that there was three years between Aejetis and () and () and Takk, I don't think that's really news, unless you really wanted to see them live.

Ah, I just posted in the "2010 - what can we expect" thread. They were supposed to release the new album in 2010 and so I thought the first thing to do would be to cut it off the list.

I'm just glad its not a permanent 'we quit but we're still friends so we'll call it hiatus' hiauts. Overall it just sounds like they want to take a break to be normal before recording some new material.
