You may want to read some of the other letters on that site...

As should you after looking up the word 'humour' in any easily available dictionary

You may also like to read Dale Carnegie's seminal work 'How to win friends & influence people'

I think it's called irony...
I admit I had to read it twice before I got that. It's quite highbrow English, which makes it hard to get for foreign speakers, but it adds greatly to the ironic effect.

Peter's answer clearly indicates he understood the intent quite well.

Even if the letter had been serious, I don't think the original poster would have deserved to be treated with such rudeness. If I really have to be rude, there are many more people in this world that deserve it - not somebody who is not harming anyone. Just my two cents, of course.

Wilf is in progarchives?!!
Thats great!! Tongue
Anyway even if the letter is funny for me was obvious that was not talking about a disease but of a movement...i Think Pawn Hearts is a very possitive masterpiece and in the terms of the disc imagery is much better a plague of lighthouse keepers than a plague of lemmings ( must be a dreadfull sight from the lighthouse...a sea cover of corpses)...or a plague of killers.
Not sure but maybe not better than a plague of angels.... unless these angels have listen to Crimson "Red" Evil Smile Shocked Confused LOL

Have you heard of spell check? Tongue Come on, really! I will do it for you!

Rediculous= read delicious
embarresed= turned into Martin Barre
ment= mint?
BTW, there is no such thing as "overpretentious" , unless you are referring to Prog , of course LOL

To those of you who have supported me through this 'life lesson' you have my whole-hearted thanks. It is interesting to note that the less than complimentary wurdz hav bin from thoze wot carnt speel, to whom I recommend Slade's Greatest Hits. (just my small jape, friends)

I am pleased that my letter to Pink Floyd has also been met with appreciation, and in response to your enquiry Sir the missive to Mr. H. (whom i must add has been in dialogue with me since and is an utter gentleman) was presented to him by a mutual 'fan' of VDGG and yours truly.

Your friend in 'prog'

I was most certainly not referring to yourself Sir, I find you to be most polite. The 'gag' was aimed, only at my detractors who have maybe 'missed the point' of my missive

A most entertaining letter Mr. Turnbull.

I recommend you assemble a harsh communique with Celine Dion re the pros and cons of euthanasia for 'pop stars'.

That would only work if Mr Turnbull is 83 , bald, bearded and likes to "rock" the cradle! Confused
