There's a point where "avant-garde" and "experimental" becomes "terrible" and "pointless,"

Playing at their peak, Metallica are better. BUT Megadeth are more consistent. |

I'm not a big metal guy but I do like both of these bands. Have to go with Metallica to break the tie.

Metallica by far.
4 classic thrash metal albums. Can't stand Dave's voice. |

I like both a lot, but Metallica was one of the bands that got me into metal, so I'll have to go with them.
I've been getting into Megadeth a lot lately, though. |

Old Metallica might have had the reformation and the influence. However, I listened to a lot of albums of Megadeth. Especially, a peculiar impression is received at time when Chris Poland was on the register.

Everything after And Justice For All is rubbish. Megadeth however, has been consistently good, so I pick them.

at Megadeth's peak they stomped the sh*t out of anything Metallica had done so far and would ever do. Plus, most of Metallica's best songs were penned by Dave anyway, and their other good ones were blatant rip-off. Also, Kirk Hammett can barely play lead guitar. You'd think after almost 30 years in a metal band (used in the loosest sense of the term) one would be able to do something other than an E minor pentatonic scale in the 12th position with a wah pedal. What, is he a 13 year old beginner guitarist?
Also, everyone who voted Metallica should watch the Megadeth Documentary |

I prefer Metallica's work in the studio as well as their live performances. Hammett does tend to be somewhat sloppy live, but from everything I've seen of Megadeth in concert (video and in person), Mustaine is also a liability in their performances (mainly in stage presense and singing).

Tough call. Both had great albums but Rust in Peace was a freaking beast. Probably my favorite metal album ever.

That's just because he was a hardcore user for a long time. Those videos from the 80s when he's on speedballs are just whack Since he's gone sober, 'death is BEAST live |
