Topic: Bands to comeback/disbanding Posted: August 21 2010 at 01:26 |
There are two different questions:
1. Which bands´ comeback do you wish? If you feel their music still might be significant benefit to their
fans and listeners.
2. Which bands are still playing, but their music is still the same, stealing themselves, undiscovering, etc?
Simply, better to disband.
For me:
1. The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Änglagård, Bubu, Flamengo
2. Deep Purple, AC/DC, Rolling Stones, Rush, Gong

My saying goes, if you have one AC/DC album. You have them all.

I'd like Robert Fripp to do a rock band again, regardless whether it would be a King Crimson or not.

What ????? Rush is most certainly not repeating themselves. They are renewing themselves, just like Iron Maiden is doing. Those two are the best bands on this planet at the moment. Even Deep Purple is in excellent shape at the moment.

I do not agree with any of those choices.
For a comeback.... Zappa, but that is just to much to ask for.
Seriously, I'd love to see 801 reunite for some live concerts. They have a catalog of great material.

Fripp/Sylvian, except this time the introspective Sylvian pieces would take precedence over the riffier Fripp works.

You think Gong is going nowhere and that Zeppelin has more to offer? Haven't you listened to Zeppelin in the later years? They're lucky they stopped when they did.
Where the hell did I just walk in to.

Which of you to gain me, tell, will risk uncertain pains of hell? I will not forgive you if you will not take the chance.

I didn't notice this... Gong are incredible right now. I saw them last autumn and they were fantastic, possibly the best concert I've seen after those by Magma.

Regrettably their two key members are dead. I know, Beatles´ comeback was always in utopian level, especially just nowadays. But wishes are wishes, although unreal ones.

My thoughts exactly. What point is a Beatles comeback if John and George aren't around?

1. Impossible, but Clouds reappearing, making that masterpiece they promised but never delivered.
2. Yes should have disappeared long ago, only the fame and money keep it going. ELP ditto (when is the next comeback?). Crimson should have disappeared after the first album, but at least their reappearances suffered from too much mania for change rather than regurgitation.

I guess you´re looking at Gong through pink glasses. Seriously, that´s a typical case of music cribbing itself. What´s new, breakthrough on album 2032 e.g.? And I´m surprised you don´t recognize it, being an erudite musical specialist.

He saw them live, I'm pretty sure they probably played a lot of classic material I also like how nobody cared about George Harrison before he died

No mentions of Gentle Giant? That's one band I would really like to see reunite. I mentioned this in a different thread, but a new formation and material from Shakti would always be great for my taste too, they can't do wrong in my book (but I haven't heard everything they made yet, so maybe I should hold my tongue ). Yes, above all, I would really like GNR or rather AXL to shut up and go home, so well past his sell by date and wasn't even such an amazing package to begin with.

Exactly, thanks. The new album is OK with some moments, but there's more to Gong than their last album
