Best 5 Devin Townsend Tracks!!
There are few artists who capture the essence of experimental/post metal than our heavy devy. I agree that his albums have to be listened to in their entirety to gain full value but I thought it would be interesting to see what people think concerning his best moments in prog.
For me I have to choose from these albums (have not heard latest I will admit):
Accelerated Evolution - Deadhead
Terria - Earth Day, Tiny Tears
and
Ziltoid The Omniscient - Hyperdrive, By Your Command

The 30 second appearance on Ayreon's Loser is also absolutely brilliant, but too short to be counted as a proper track.

Damn, i recently got seriously into Terria, and am in love with the second half of 'deep peace' and a few other songs. not to mention alot of Biomech which i just got... may have to rethink my list

In no particular order... 1. Earth Day - Terria 2. By Your Command - Ziltoid 3. Color Your World - Ziltoid 4. Heaven Send - Ki 5. (Because I have to throw this in given how epic it is) Skeksis - SYL's Alien Although if we're only talking about Devy songs on PA, I would probably replace it with Notes from Africa. It's so hard to pick from my favorite artist.

I don't know all of his solo material yet, and while I really like the Project albums as a whole, the earlier ones are still a bit too varying in quality. But that's just a case of not listening to them quite enough, I believe. But the absolute masterpieces are easy to find:
1. Earth Day (Terria) 2. Deep Peace (Terria) 3. Supercrush! (Addicted) 4. Deadhead (Accelerated Evolution) 5. Terminal (Ki)
Some really great ones were left out.

^ Most doesn't like it at first, but any proper fan should get it.
I know Terria is the classic hard to beat, but in my case, Ki is his record I listen the most... I find it deeper, darker and more beautiful than any other of his works.
