This breaks down the earlier KC poll to find what the preference is from the classic era.

I mentioned it many times before: Red is my colour of the Crimson.

I'll go with the Sinfield era. Because of The Court and Lizard.

why not call it Sinfeld vs Palmer-James, just curious, since it is more logical / intresting to compare the two lyricists of KC  then a lyricist and a vocalist.

The first period for its superior number of albums and for "Lizard" and "Islands".

Sinfield era was good but Wetton reinvigorated the band.
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

I already thought about splitting up the poll. But shouldn't it be three eras then: the Lake era, the Wetton era and the era inbetween?
Anyway, in spite of my nick I have a slight preference for the Wetton era.

I'd go even further: Lake era, Haskell era, Burrell era and Wetton era.

The first 4, no doubt. Lizard and Islands are my favorite KC albums, and Islands is one of my all-time fave albums. In the Wake of Poseidon and In the Court are two excellent album as well.

Wetton-era has some great stuff, though the albums as a whole always have something that doesn't appeal to much that much, with the exception of Starless & Bible Black.

I find everything between Court and Larks' to be fair to middling. But the Wetton era is by far the best Crimson.

This.

I voted first era even though Islands is the only one in there that I like better than the albums from the "2nd era"

Needless to say, with Walter's choices I would be voting Burrell Era

The first era, easily. My favourite album is the debut, and I kind of like more the atmosphere achieved by flute / mellotron. However, I do love the Wetton era too.

Although my avatar picture reminds Larks´Tongues, I voted for the early King Crimson era. It´s little bit stronger then the latest one, but just little bit.

It was simply a way of distinguishing the two eras which are, i feel, fairly distinct (though Islands does point to the latter era).

I wanted to compare the output of the group as a whole rather than any of its members..

The Wetton-Brufford era here. Lizard is the only one from the first 4 that can compete with LTIA, S&BB and Red IMO. All 7 albums are great though.
