Extrapedestrian is an Eclectic Prog act based in Louisiana. It is the work of a sole multi-instrumentalist, recording on a small budget in various bedroom makeshift-studios. It fits somewhere between edgy singer-songwriter (Peter Gabriel, David Bowie, etc), minimalist progressive rock (composed of multiple more-simple elements more-so than those featuring instrumental virtuosity), and electronics-based synth music. Lyrics tend to strike some balance between conceptual, poetically vague, and improvised.
Exit Stage West is a collection of songs incorporating various musical styles, has some vintage mellotron samples, instrumental solos, vocal harmonies, woodwinds, synthesizers, etc.
Two other, more experimental projects, recorded on identicle month-day-year dates (08-08-08, and 09-09-09) were recorded in a self-improvised-in-isolation method:
Each song was set up with a (metronome) click track and a few recorded spoken word cues, signaling different parts of the song.
Each track was recorded in isolation from each other, with only the click track and spoken cues as a reference. (All other takes are subsequently muted during the recording process)
Being improvised, the 080808 and 090909 collections are much more loosely put together than the prepared work found on Exit Stage West, and sound more experimental/artsy and can at times sound akin to some type of modern improvised Krautrock and/or ambient electronic.
All albums are freely downloadable:
There is a fairly modest myspace page: myspace.com/extrapedestrian and facebook page as well.
