Can't find any references on here for these guys, and they've been around for a while now (though so far have only managed to cut singles and EPs...but that's all about to change...)From the band's website: http://breaking-orbit.com/
BREAKING ORBIT burst forth onto the scene in 2009, born from the diverse and progressive reverberations previously known as ‘Nucleus’. A blistering start to 2010 saw a string of sold out headline shows and high profile support shows with such Australian bands as Dead Letter Circus, Cog, and MM9. The band then bunkered down at The Grove Studios with producers Evan McHugh (Dead Letter Circus, MM9) and Breaking Orbit’s own Dylan Mitrovich to begin work on their highly anticipated debut album. Release of the two singles ‘My Direction’ and ‘Callsign’ from the soon to be released record was received with open arms on national radio (Triple J) with extensive airplay and a rousing reception from fans both in Australia and overseas. Culminating in a string of shows up and down the east coast over a number of tours, the band entered new territory, reinforcing their stance as one of Australia’s most inspiring and eclectic live acts. With the fan base ever expanding and the every performance reaching a new high, the culture they inhabit and the depth of their expression is only matched by that of their musical dexterity. Serious about their art and with their place in the national scene firmly cemented, 2011 has so far been a renaissance year. While vetting their collective psyche and finalizing the album at a studio level, bass player and well rounded musician Jay Wardrop has been signed, completing the line-up and making the band whole once again. With this fresh line-up, the quest to deliver what is set to be a truly amazing debut record hits top gear". Breaking Orbit are: Matt Quayle – Lead Vocals, Guitar Mark Tyson – Drums, Vocals, Viola Jay Wardrop – Bass, Vocals Dylan Mitrovich – Guitar, Vocals, Percussion, Programming Read (and hear!) more: Porcupine Tree influences galore, a bit of Tool maybe? I don't know if it's heavy prog or post rock/math rock, but the band is a sure-fire inclusion on here once the album is finished. (Soon, I believe ![]() They did two EPs as 'Nucleus' - "9 Months In Solitary" (2006) and "Circumvolution" (2008), with 5 and 6 tracks respectively, and both available to download on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/9-Months-in-Solitary/dp/B004EMZ7J4, & http://www.amazon.com/Circumvolution/dp/B002M3W2H2 |

Most definitely NOT!! ![]() There were 5 bands called Nucleus as far as I am aware...I guess that's one of the reasons they changed their name!

These Aussie groups sure know how it's done! Cool stuff, and reminds me a lot of Karnivool (a fellow Aussie band). Heavy, dense alt metal stuff with a distinct art rock influence it seems.
I'll bring it to the Heavy team. You can follow our progress here as well: http://progfreak.com/Breaking-Orbit-150508.html?path=pa/heavy_prog

Do you know if they have a release date for their full length? I hear the progressiveness, but I would be more comfortable voting yes with more than five songs, although if necessary I will.

No release date at the moment - they haven't finished all the recording of it yet - still in progress as we speak!! They have announced a tour (The Breaking Orbit 11:11 Tour) in Nov/Dec, so I would imagine their side of things will all be done and dusted before they embark on that - then it's kinda out of their hands. New year at the earliest for the finished article, I would think. You may want to hold your horses for a while 'til we know for sure, but it WILL happen sooner rather than later.

I'll probably wait. Now that we're using PF again we'll never forget about a suggestion.

As soon as any more samples get uploaded (which I'm sure they will) as the tracks get finished, I'll update the post.

There are still only five samples on the facebook music page (plus the tubes above), but they've been uploading a series of 'Monday Media Day' videos to YouTube charting the progress of the making of the album (with a few snippets of the various tracks). There are 10 of these vids so far (see their channel: http://www.youtube.com/breakingorbit2009). The album will be called 'The Time Traveller'...Shouldn't be too long now.
