As in the case of Robert, my vote isn't a secret.
After Genesis, my favorite PROG band is Kansas.
They were incredibly innovative, as a fact they were the first band that blended Symphonic Prog, Hard Rock and Country Music with great taste and ability.
Chicago, despite being listed here is not Prog (IMO of course and i can be wrong), and can't understand how they are being considered innovative, they did what hundreds of other bands, with less talent. (Again IMO)

I only own the first couple of Chicago albums and like them both. Havn't ventured any further. I saw Kansas play live about 6 years ago or so and I was very impressed.Probably should vote Kansas but I'll go with both.

Chicago easily. Kansas is one of the most boring bands. Almost as bad as Rush.

Kansas by a billion miles. Only like 10% of early Chicago counts as prog IMHO

This has been an interesting poll. Lots of people feel very strongly in favor of one band and equally strongly against the other.
I listened to the first Kansas album today (my "strongly against" band) for the first time in years, and it was pretty entertaining. Not good enough to change my vote (I really love Chicago, man), but I'm glad this poll came around and encouraged me to give them another chance. I'll never badmouth Kansas again.

I confess I did have to go and look up the lyrics for that one as I have heard that song several times though it's been a while. Anyone want to have a go at Kansas lyric based joke?

Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

How about a 'name this tune'? No cheating - Google is off limits “The world began to change – the children moved and they had children. So they took the space and put the ceiling on the floor.”

It won't be funny if I have to explain it.

It got a "nice" from someone who is a fan of the band, but it is pretty much the inherent nature of jokes that if you have to explain it, it loses impact, but doesn't make it unfunny. For that one to really work you need familiarity with the lyrics of one of their more popular songs.

I'm sure knowing the song would make no difference. I see the words you posted. How does it relate to me not wanting to listen to Chicago?
How about just explaining it anyway?

I take it that he meant a chicago fan might beat you up and make you cry, but lighten up he was just quoting a song for us chicago fans.
